From 7 news...
Racing driver Peter Brock has died in a racing accident in Western Australia, the WA Police Major Crash Squad has confirmed.
The nine-times Bathurst 1000 winner was taking part in the Targa rally event in WA and involved one car, which crashed into a tree.
Brock, 61, was driving a 5.7 litre Chevrolet V8 Daytona sports car in the Targa race.
The 1150kg car was built as a modern interpretation of the 1965 Shelby Daytona, which dominated the World Sports Car Championship that year.
Brock's co-driver was to be Mick Hone, a Melbourne motorcycle dealer who was team manager for the Works Suzuki team in 2000.

The WA Crash police have confirmed it. We will not know what actually killed him until next week, if it was an accident or something that led to it.
Brocky was still very fit and healthy, although he was 61. He had been driving in these rallys for a number of years since he retired from Touring Cars as they were known.
Big fella, you have taken two legends from our country this week. May their spirit live on for all Australians.
Bathurst will never be the same again.
Mick

Peter Brock was my hero. I am probably the biggest motorsport nut you will ever meet, and i held him in the highest of highs! He was the kindest driver at the track, and would never say no to an autograph. I have much Brock Memorobillia. This is a very very sad day for Australian Motorsport, as he was looked up to by so many of todays drivers. We will miss you forever brocks!

I didn't remember that Brocky was a pies man until I noticed it again on the discussion, unlike some, I dont instantly think "was he a pies man" before I praise him and nor should other people.
Regardless, he was a legend, held in great esteem, and should forever be respected for what he did for Australian Motor Racing, Collingwood and everything else he achieved in his life.

King of the Mountain gone?!?!.... who'd of thought! I guess like Steve Irwin, Brocky just had one of those invincible ora's about him! A true champion in every sense of the word. Like Steve, he did pass away doing something he loved.
I've probably still got a couple of those Torana/Marlboro Commodore 05 posters that adorned my childhood bedroom lying around somewhere - might have to dig them up!
RIP

Sadly, I've had to delete many posts. Too many to send individual PMs. A lot were understandable replies to one or two disrespectful posts.
This IS the right place for any eulogies to one of our greatest Pies' supporters.
I was stunned to hear this. Brocky was one of the very best.
