I think the kid will be great, i think the club has done well to get him in the black and white. I still think we took the easy option, he is prob worth a pick in the 20 range, so 14 was a bit pricey but at the same time to get pick 20 we would've had to give up a player. This way we hold onto our core, which can't be frowned upon.

Somebody please reassure me that Wood isn't another friggin' stick-insect like Richards? To be thrown around by Lade, Cox, Ottens and the other schoolyard bullies?
And we can presume this is the beggining of the end for Stretch?

Fear not, Dyso. Wood's more a leaper than a crash-and-bash merchant, but he put on a heap of size last summer. He'll be no pushover, that's for sure.

I think this is a really astute trade. We all accept we needed a ruckman. A Steven King, Ben Hudson or (shudder) Beau McDonald would have given us one or two years' service at best. Wood is only 20 but has already had three years to develop, so I think he fills an immediate need without being a short-term solution. He has the capacity to develop into a number one ruck option which will free up, and give blessed relief to poor Josh Fraser.

Frankly, if Matthew Leuenberger wasn't going to be a superstar of the comp (which he will be, mark my words) the Lions would be hanging on to Wood for grim death. And the draft pool is reputedly shallow, so pick 14 is likely to be a lottery anyway. I think Wood will definitely prove to be worth the asking price. He's no Dean Cox, but he's got a big upside for the future and is at least a better option than either Richards or Bryan at present. (I also have read Richards' contract will not be renewed, but no confirmation of that from the club.)

Nope, Josh, Richards and Bryan all unsigned as at the beginning of this week.

Havne't heard if they've signed any of them.

Great work.

...and we didn't need to grease the deal with Rhyce to get the big long Wood in the door. Happy days!!!

It is an in-your-endo dream at Collingwood at the moment:

Dick
Cox
Goldsack
and now we have got Wood!

Welcome , finaly we have a ruckman at the club to help josh and maybe even take the #1 mantle. This guy is a 200% upgrade on Richards as he isn't unco ,reads the play well, moves well , has a mongrel to win the contest , and when he wins the taps they go to a clear advantage (alot of richards so called taps to advantage were 50/50).
Up the Mighty Mags 2016.
