reports are that the budgies(wce) have wrapped it up with embley to port and port's #15 to dees. but also noted wce only prepared to pay $300K of his $500k contract, leaving the cash strapped dees to fork out $400k over the next 2 years to cover him. dont think they'd go for that and only get #15. pies seem willing to pay the full contract for #16, and will then have the option of reducing him to maybe 350-400k later or not have to worry with bucks and burns due on the veterans list in '04/'05.

Last year woewodin's stats were not bad. More a true midfielder, possessions were better against top 8 than against total average. Not many goals though (11) but kicked 6 against top 8 sides, better than Caracella who only kicked 4 and had an extra game as well. Could really flourish, and i mean superstar type flourish in collingwood game. Hard at the ball, fearless - our type of player. Can get his own ball as well. Just starting to recapture his pre-brownlow medal ceremony form. I remember seeing ads by him saying he loved melbourne passionately etc and would be theirs for life. He must be sickened to hear that he's on the block - but that sort of passion is what we need, and ask for, at pieland. I hope he comes on board - but WE STILL NEED A RUCKMAN.

The news this morning is that Woewodin will end up at Collingwood and the deal is as good as done. His manager Liam Pickering confirms it. Our 1st pick (16th overall) will go to Melbourne in exchange. There is no mention of any other player in this deal.
Balme confirmed that Damien Adkins could be swapped for WCE Andrew Williams tomorrow. I suspect this one is a done deal too. Williams is a former Victorian maybe wishing to come back home.
Sydney havent yet made any moves on Davis and unless they change their tune come 2:00pm tomorrow he will remain to be a Magpie.

I'd love to see Woey a Pie! And lets face it, if the deal fell through would the guy want to stay with the Dees after the way they've treated him? Crawford is an example of how it took a couple of seasons to get back to Brownlow best form and I have no doubts Woewodin can do that, especially in a B&W jumper!
Okay, who's missing from the photos Cam?
GO PIES!

Woey is a fantastic player and i am glad to get him but as a person he is an absoulte arsehole, hopefully the pies can straighten him out and put him back in his box.
I love nick davis to pieces but i think its better if he goes, seeing as he is unhappy at the pies, therefore wont play to his full potenial, which is what we need. It'll be sad to see him go but i reckon its for the best, if it means he will be happy playing footy.

Lions set sights on Caracella, Woewodin becomes a Pie
Essendon's Blake Caracella has emerged as the key to a trade which would enable Brisbane's Des Headland to play for Fremantle.
The Lions are keen to secure Caracella after his team-mate Chris Heffernan rejected an offer to move to Brisbane as part of the complicated trade.
Meanwhile, Melbourne star midfielder Shane Woewodin has agreed to move to Collingwood.
The two clubs are continuing to negotiate a suitable trade.
