I loved Leroy pushing his weight around.Pendles and Leon were just sublime, the game literally slows down when they have the ball! Just love the team effort.

Yes, very happy with the result. Didn't look like any real injuries of note, either. Good to see Woody come back out after favouring his shoulder, he had a solid game.

We are on a different planet to most of our competition, I'm sure Mick will still find some areas to improve in for the Swans clash.

Go 'Pies!!

Cloke: what a gun. Simply unstoppable. Was rested a bit in the last, but was the clear difference in the game. They simply had no one up forward who could emulate him. and no one down back who could stop him.

Wellingham: best game of his career.

37 touches
20 contested disposals
9 clearances

I said in the votes thread that Cloke was clear best on. I'll amend that and say just ahead of Sharrod. Scrap that, I got it wrong - yes Swoop, first time ever! Wellingham was best on. Anyone who still thinks he doesn't get the tough ball or is protected by Swan, Thomas and Pendlebury, is a loon. Well ahead of Beams in our 22.

This was a super win. We won by 88, without Swan, Thomas and Jolly and without a significant impact from Pendlebury or Shaw. That is an amazing effort.

The Fas was not out of place in his first game. 15 touches, 12 contested (great sign for a young player) and some very nice ball handling in tight.

The fringe: Buckley, McCarthy, Blair all did a good job without starring.
Well done boys!

Duff Soviet Union wrote:Good performance. Our big forwards were excellent, our key defenders were excellent (especially Taz), our midfield won easily despite missing two prime movers and arguably Pendles' worst game of the year. Only concern was our forward setup looked poor in the third. And even then, Melbourne couldn't get it out of our forward line. Good performances by fringe players like Bucks, Fasolo, McCarthy and Wood. Dids still looked a bit out of touch and I would have liked Blair to do more, but otherwise no complaints.
Mmmm I saw some pretty damn impressive things from Pendles today

Agreed ... some are getting so harsh on Pendles. Sheesh. He got better as the game wore on. Never wasted a possession. Brilliant all round game. Unluck to miss my top 3.

great win by our boys today. cloke was the standout up forward and wellingham had the ball on a string all day. good effort by fasolo in his first game too. i was slightly worried about this game because the deeeeeez always seem to lift for it. we put em back in their box though.

Apart from winning, the highlights were watching Didak and Wellingham getting their groove back, Han Solo's debut (inc mark and goal) and the ongoing improvement to Wood.

Geez I loved that today. Nothing like embarrassing them on their one big day of the season - their annual "Grand Final" against us.

Cloke was an absolute monster today, simply unstoppable in the first half.

Wellers played an absolute blinder, and I though Blair was pretty good as well, while Pendles played a good solid game, rather than starring.

Thought Taz absolutely annihilated Captain Kickless Green. He would have to be the worst Captain in the comp.

The frightening thing for the rest of the comp is, in no particular order;
Jolly, Thomas, Swan, Johnson, Beames, Brown Macaffer (have I forgotten anyone?). I dont give a rats that we're second on the ladder, that pretty much sums up how far ahead of the rest we are.
I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within.

Oh please.

Awesome today but it was one game.

The gap between his best and worst is still to wide and it was only two weeks a go he could only gather 11 possessions (Beams 26) againt West Coast.

For all the games he plays like today he plays another where he lacks urgency.

Hopefully today he learnt a valuable lesson about playing with intensity and the awards it brings.

For the record Beams has gathered 20+ possies in 6 out of 8 games, Wellingham 5 of 11.

What'sinaname wrote:Admittedly, Melbourne are crap, and beat Essendon who showed last night that they are crap also.

But , this was a danger game given the caliber of players missing, so to come out and Deestroy the Dees was fabulous.

Now, all we need to worry about is the dreaded curse of the bye.

PS. Was very concerned when Wood left the ground with a Shoulder problem. Very happy he returned.
Mate you're a worry wart!

The game was never in danger. Never!

Forget Geelong, we are still the number ONE!

Great debut from the kid Fasolo. Cloke is becoming a monster. That was Wellingham's best game of the year. Reid continues to mark everything in defense. Pendlebury is still the smoothest dude in our side and our safest shot for goals.

Very happy. Can't wait for us to really start playing footy after the bye. :D

Wellingham had to stand up today, Pendlebury was clearly going to get a lot of work put into him, which left Wellingham as our best un-tagged outside midfielder. He played the role beautifully, and I loved some of his combos with Fasolo, great to see two friends playing together.

Wellers has certainly been down on form this year, but he stood up when we needed it, which is the most important thing.
