RIP you great man. You will never be forgotten.
I thought Peter Hafey was runner. Ron- assitant coach.

Yes you are correct. I apologise for the gaff.
I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

RIP Ronnie, by all accounts a great bloke and a great servant of the club. Not as famous as his brother but utterly respected.

Condolences to the families.

If there could possibly be a retrospective best on ground medal for Grand Finals then Ron Richards wins it clearly for the 1953 Grand Final. He was best on ground, his brother Lou was captain, we knock off Geelong and win the flag. Sensational!
143 games retired in 1956.
Coached Collingwood thirds and seconds teams and was assistant senior coach.

So he was;
a premiership player,
best on ground in a premiership team
coached our thirds and seconds to premierships
was assistant senior coach (to Tommy Hafey)
Legend!

RIP Ron. He was there through thick and thin. I still get a knot in my stomach when I see him in tears with a minute or two to go in the 1990 GF. A great man.

Well Said ^

Very sad day. Peter Daicos spoke very highly of Ron in his book and said he was responsible for him getting his start in the seniors. Incredibly Ron passed away on Daics birthday.

RIP Ron Richards.
