Tragic. So young. He had the balls to basically admit that he did the right thing by his club (Melbourne) to set them up for the draft ... Ie: tanking. Demetriou and his gang made him a scape goat. Sounds like he was a straight shooter and a good bloke. Vale Dean Bailey.

Basically the same age as me.

Bugger that, eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you may die. (to slightly mangle a quote).

Condolences to the blokes family.

Very sad news. RIP.

On a side note, the news made it sound like Bailey was Bob Skilton as a player and Jock McHale as a coach.

Condolences to his family, but frankly I hope Cameron Schwab is feeling more than a little guilty. He seems to have been the Demon official who asked Dean Bailey to select a team to effectively tank and then stood by and let Bails carry the can. He wasn't to know that Bailey only had two years to live but his behaviour did nothing to make those last two years more pleasant.

Not the most gifted player ever but tried his guts our. Gave great service to several clubs at many facets of coaching. Passionate about th game he loved so much.
RIP Dean Bailey our thoughts are with your family.
No matter which club you support or at what level you participate in this game cancer knows no limits.
Today I'm making a donation to cancer Australia in remembrance of a mn who just loved the game.
