Considering they kicked their first goal after 15 seconds, restricting them to 2 for the rest of the match was pretty impressive.

Remember we now have consecutive 6 day breaks, hence some bruise free footy at times.

Another tough ugly win - let's have more of them regardless of the media nonsense.

Plenty of hard workers out there today, but Frosty warrants special praise. Loved him driving Nathan Jones into the turf at the end there after the former had done the same to a lot of Pies. The lad is as tough as nails.

Wittsy's ruck work is really coming on, just quietly.

Pendles and Beamsy true professionals.

Good signs in patches from others, but it was never going to look impressive.

Tick.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

More than happy with that win.
Melb have been playing shut down footy and been getting better at it every week. They were settled coming in with a mid field and forward line in form.
It's roos boring as bat shit hold the footy at all cost type football
Swan interview was telling in that we were happy to let them go side to side in the back line as it was not going to hurt us.
In the end, we played smart footy and beat them on the score board and at their own game given they only kicked 3 goals.
Take that. Move on.

Finding a way to win against Roos' dastardly tactics is what was required and what was delivered. To finish with a percentage booster is a nice bonus. Pretty sure we just handed Melbourne their second biggest defeat for the year. I don't think we could have asked for much more.

Well, that's three hours of my life i won't get back again.Just a terrible game to watch, thanks to the woeful, negative tactics of Paul Roos. His coaching really is a blight on the game.Anyway,i'm just glad we got away with the win.It actually would have been bad for football if those negative tactics of Roos had won out in the end.

AN_Inkling wrote:A very good win. The kind of win a premiership contender has.

They did what Roos' teams do: clog it up and prevent any fast scoring. And as always, especially against us, the fatal flaw is not being able to score enough themselves. We did a great job of putting some pressure on their little leadup passes and then making sure they had nowhere to go when they tried to go forward. End result: only 3 Melbourne goals.

In the end what we had was a percentage booster: 218%. Which is more like a 60-70 point margin.

Young was very good today. Best on field and his best game for the club. Brilliant run and some great foot skills.

Seedsman could have got more of the ball, but some of the runs he did provide were electric.

Cloke worked his way into the game and had a decent one by the end.

Grundy was excellent in the first half. Faded a bit but was far better than Witts who was ordinary.

Thomas acquitted himself better than Adams did last week after a shocking first quarter where he did not touch the ball. Finished with 20 touches. Only 1 clearance though, and I think the last two weeks have shown that Ball is still our number 1 primary extractor.
Actually our percentage only improved by around 3.5 this week compared to approx. 10.5 after last weeks 86pt victory.

Interesting that Frosty has already polled fives and fours in the GB voting.

8 disposals, 3 tackles. His disposal efficiency (87.5) was our second best though, with Lachie Keeffe being our best (88.9)

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D

Glad for the 4 pts which you take anyway you can. Did quite well up against an ultra defensive opposition. Young was great as was Frost and Keeffe down back. The dees are as boring as bat shit. F*** channel 7 and their biased pathetic commentary. I could count on one hand how many times the pricks actually praised the Pies for their efforts. If you didn't know any better, you'd say they were playing themselves out there. Time we scrap this charity game and give it to the dogs.

Had that sinking feeling at one stage. Easy game! Easy game to lose that is, and in years gone by we may have let this one slip.

A lot of Nicksters alluded to the fact that Melbourne are much improved, well it wasn't a pretty game, but the Demons gave it everything and once again showed that in 2014 there is no such thing as an easy game.

I don't think we played particularly well, but we won, and the result equals a percentage boost.

Special mention to Frosty, Marley, Keeffe and Tom Langdon.

Well done.

Go Pies

Roos trying to party like it's 2005. When was the last time he managed to beat the Pies?

Nicely put! Glad that we have people like you who watch the game trends carefully. The idea was to grind out a win and we did that.

In response to those who mentioned Swan - he has a foot injury and that is why he was out last week.

On Witts - he needs a rest next week. I think that Bucks is resting the load of certain players to prepare for the shorter breaks and Hawks. Agree that Grundog played very well in the first half. He will be a hell of a player when he puts it together.

Frost was outstanding today and the backline is like a fortress now.

Let's get the points next week and then have a red hot go against the Hawks lacking our kryptonite - Sam Mitchell.
Daicos, impossible angle ... Goal!

:) Also interesting that nobody has mentioned the free kick count.

Mmm. I wonder why not. ;)
