Size does matter!
It is why the average afl player have been
growing for decades now.
Pendlebury could have been a ruckman years ago.
A good big man will beat a good small man any day
of the week.
Players like Mitchell and Harvey are exceptional and
there will always be room for these brilliant midgets.
But the Jobe Watsons and Kennedy and like are
the prototypes of the future.

Nothing overly new about big bodied tall midfielders. The history is available to anyone with access to google, but back in the day the midfield consisted of the Ruck, Ruck-Rover, Rover and Centreman and the Ruck-Rover was almost another ruckman in size.
