Pies have a deep and long memory on the Greg Swann dual involvement of procuring both Dale Thomas and Dayne Beams the last 2 seasons. As long as we don't get "Richmond 1983 Irrational"

eg. John Annear, Terry Domburg, Craig Stewart, Phillip Walsh

And give away the kitchen sink, we should be fine. If we finish 11th this year (likely) it shall leave our 7th pick which is identical to the pick the Lions used in 2013 for him. They'll want that as minimums given 2 years of development (eg. Oxley QLD lad) and shall "hold out for more" like we did with Beams wanting a player or another draft pic.

Yes yes I know you'll all say he is only worth .......... but that's how it shall actually play out. All on the basis that he wants to come to us. Over to Scharenberg, Grundy and Kennedy for your "Pies pitch"!!!

Uncontracted player, generally means you don't get value. The seller almost always gets screwed.

Weideman is no certainty to go 1st round (that's if we even rate him or want him).

And even if he does, Aish is out of contract and has the Pre-Season Draft as leverage on Brisbane. If he wanted to come to us, and only us, they would have to take what they're given. 2nd rounder and a couple of players is better than nothing, especially since they got Beams for unders.

There is definitely a scenario that could see us netting both Aish and Weideman, if that's the path we want to go down...

Aish & Weideman, what a dream that would be!

For those that remember the '90 premiership side a few players (not sure how many exactly) played and won a flag for our 19s side before 1990.
I like to look at that example when I see the SA boys (Grundy. Shaz, Broomy & Kennedy), from the dominant era they had at under 18s level a couple years ago. Aish is the missing player from that side (and Sam Mayes may be another one).
I know it doesn't translate to winning a premiership at the top level but I'm pretty certain once our SA boys (and a couple of other draftees Freeman, Darcy, JDG etc.) develop we could have a premiership side in the making. It'll just a matter of time. However, we are obviously a while away from that.

Getting Aish would be just the beginning. Getting Weideman would be the icing on the cake!

4 (Brown, Monkhorst, McGuane and Crosisca).

And funny you should mention a "missing player" when making that comparison, because Daicos has always said Mark Orval was that same missing player, played in that Under 19s flag but career ruined by foot injuries...

As we've said in other threads over the years, The Orv could have been anything as a forward had he stayed injury free.
Hypothetically, would have been interesting to see how Orv and Sav Rocca would have worked together in the early 90s.

Well those low slags at Brisbane set the precedent last year with a season remaining on Beams contract. Pert and McGuire haven't forgotten. I'm sure their intention is to expand the diameter of Greg Swan's arse once pre-trade time 2015 arrives, in pursuit of Aish.

I always knew Ben Sinclair would come in handy for something eventually...

I'll be happy if he leaves them and they get SFA in return, no matter the destination (except for carlton or essendon).

Well, there was that time a while back where some members of the female population on this board mistakenly thought I was a girl Bat instead of a boy Bat, so perhaps I'm just indulging my inner bitch... :P

Of course he is no certainty but if he turns out to be worth a top 10 selection or we fancy another then I can't see us being able to land Aish without giving up our first round selection unless he puts a large price on his head and we can get him via the PSD but that would be a gamble.

The ultimate fantasy would be to land Dangerfield and Aish even if it cost us a load of money and our first rounder.

Anyway it's April so why are we even discussing this?

The end of a rebuild is trying to pick up players in the same age group as your draft picks from the last 2-4 years so you have an excellent core of same agers to take through to a premiership (with mature trade ins during the window). This is the perfect pick up, get it done.
