I rather hope that his nickname will be Tom.

Wills is a very good surname for an Aussie Rules footballer.

Would he need a merkin instead of a jumper then...

Was very good in the VFL R1, backed up again Sunday apparently.

Well done Rupert Wills

This kid had to wait til the pointy end of the season to get a senior game, but he settled in like he was a veteran. He had 17 disposals, but importantly he laid an incredible 11 tackles....and when he tackles, they stay tackled. He's a brute. I love the way he takes on 2 tacklers but manages to hold his ground, and sometimes burst through them with pure strength. Sure, some of his disposals were a bit ordinary, but that's because he's an inside player, and was often rushing a kick out of a pack. He's a bit of a rough diamond, but imho, he's exactly what we need in our midfield....a big, strong player to crash and bash. For a debut, his game was terrific, and I reckon we've definitely found a player.

Pace the only query from here

Very settled, big, strong bodied smart mid who looked very strong, confident and composed.

Maybe. He's got the crash and bash down but will need to show more to make a career. As a mature ager at 23 you expect him to be more ready than most on debut, it's too early to tell whether he's a senior player long term.

A younger, cheaper and, possibly, better version of Macaffer is what I see.

Strong through the hips. Really planted the legs and rod tackles and dished off a couple of times, good signs. My query on him was his pace and skills but if he can continue do the dirty work on the inside like he did last night, I'd take that.

Heaps of tackles
Read the ball well to mark, then lovely calm pass to Rusty to ice the game...
Promising...
