Get it done.

Honestly if we let him slip to Richmond or Carlton Swoop is going to get upset.
I hate this deal. I'd rather us get a late first rounder and do a straight swap and still take 6 into the draft. elite talents lurk at 6. risky bets like Schache at 18. why trade one elite talent for 2 risky bets.

He didn't get a lot of the ball as a junior but his big strength was that he was a dead eye dick in front of goal. This seems to have deserted him in his last two years in the AFL.
You would think the kicking confidence and mechanics would come back to him but I'm not convinced he has any other strings to his bow.
There are just so many young KPFs who struggle to make the transition from playing against boys up to playing against men. It's a tough gig but he is still young.
On exposed form, I would rather take pick 6 to the draft.
I agree that 6 would be too much for someone with such question marks over him. Talk seems to be around a late first so we could expect say pick 18 to come back with Schache if we send 6.

Do we really need Schache?

I don't think he is worth parting with our pick 6 for. However if a trade was to be done, I would use pick 6 only on the basis that we get a decent first round pick next year. Otherwise no dice.

Is he proven? No

IMO far too risky to trade use our first round pick.

How do you think Schache was viewed when he went pick 2 just two years ago?

An elite talent.

Pick 6 this season will come with no more guarantees attached and being able to land another player within the top 20 appeals to me.

Swoop, Swoop, Swoop mate, I ask you, have we ever gone wrong with a top 10 draft pick?

I wouldn't take too much from his form up nth.

If he wasn't initially happy to be drafted so far away from home why would you make it even harder to get a move away at the end of your initial contract by making yourself indispensable to the teams future by playing well.

He could potentially be a big long term fix for us, and Moore, although pick 6 at this point might be a little too risky... but I'm sure something can be done.

If he gets to Pieland, come this time next year most of you will be in love with him... trust me (ha!)

Lions have shit culture. Everyone wants out. If beams wasn't born in qld he wouldn't be there.
Elliot yeo was from the Lions now he's bnf at West cokers and an all Australian.
Get this kid to Collingwood.
It's our turn for a buddy and roughyy dynasty

There's been big rumours up here for a long time that his general attitude is way below the expected standard of a AFL player.
They've tried many things with the kid including giving him specialist one on one coaching with Jonathon Brown to providing him with a personal pyschcologist
Home sickness could be true or it could be a bit of spoiled brat behaviour from a young player who just think he doesn't have to work hard to achieve any form of success
If the lions are prepared to accept a late first round pick for mine it would sound massive alarm bells after they gave up pick 2 for him.
Buyer beware
Do your home work really well on this one
I wouldn't be offering any more than a 2 year deal and then it would come with massive incentive clauses in his contract as a safe guard for the club.
No need to get into a bidding war for him if he nominates us then it has to be on our terms not his or the lions
I know nothing about his background other than that he was 3 years old when his dad died. I can understand him not wanting to be in Qld if his mother and brother are in Victoria.

What about our second draft selection next year + either or all of Adam Oxley, josh smith and possibly even lacklan keeffe?

Then we take best available with our pick 6 this year, Brander?

I know next years draft is a cracker but if we can bring in two top 10 kpp players this year with possibly Tom Lynch (gc) next year then our spine would start to look terrific.
People forget that our last premiership was only 2010 and rebuilds take some time. 2018 we play finals again.

yep you are right. Pick 6 could be another Schache or a Watts. Or he could be a Bontempelli or a Lance Franklin! If we use 6 on the draft instead of schache, at least we have a certain probability of getting a bont or a Lance. If we take Schache, wwe get.... well, we get Schache!

look, i'm all for taking a chance on this kid. We desperately need a target up forward as cox will never be the answer to the question - who was the big forward who played in collingwood's premiership. i just dont know why you would burn such a valuable commodity as pick 6. find a way to get a late first round pick and keep 6.

GWS had a top 6 academy talent last year and they did everything to move up to number 2 so that they could get TWO top 6 talents. why would we do the opposite and give one up for someone that we know is not a top 6 talent.

One top 6 player is worth much more than two 18 picks. i know occasionally you pick up a grundy at pick 18. More often you pick up a Ben kennedy or a broomhead. At pick 6, you nearly always get a good one.

Easy to forget how Josh Kennedy was viewed after his first two years at the Blues...
