Not disagreeing with others' comments here, but it shouldn't be overlooked that the guy is in hospital in a serious condition. Hope he recovers ok, and thoughts are with your daughter Skids.

Shouldn't be overlooked that he's a bloody idiot and if it wasn't for his own stupid actions he wouldn't be in hospital. Thankfully it's only him in there, not anyone else that he put there with him.

Absolutely, but that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t be concerned for his wellbeing, even if just as a family member of an acquaintance. He’s still a human being with people who love and care about him. He’ll get his just deserts when he goes before the judge, whatever they may be. In the meantime, I hope he makes a full recovery.

I think, as Stui pointed out, it’s very unlikely he’ll be driving again in the foreseeable future.

Watch the booze bus show, RBT every single week someone is that dumb. You just got to hope they don’t take anyone with them if they crash. And often it’s a suspended sentence

Coincidentally last night I was asked to edit a reference supporting an extraordinary licence application (a WA thing I think). Of concern was the lack of awareness that if you have multiple offences for driving under the influence and drink driving you clearly have an alcohol issue that needs addressing. It was a real insight into how hard it is to deal with when most of the circle of friends and family have similar issues.

Ps Skids, I hope the guy is okay and it's a wake up call he takes notice of for the sake of your grandson

Well said, PP. Easy to go down the “bloody idiot”, “only have themselves to blame” line, but some of these people have serious problems with self-control and addiction. We can acknowledge that and take a compassionate and supportive approach while still condemning and punishing the act.

Cheers for the input, he's ok and out of hospital.
According to my daughter, he's displaying very little remorse, talking about trying to claim insurance (yeah, good luck with that!) and planning his next drinking session tonight (still in a neck brace & badly bruised up)
I wish he'd just fxcj off tbh. Tam's a strong woman, got me stuffed why she's still with him.

Wow wee.

He has his license back and can drive until his next (6 weeks)court appearance. Apparently his license was only suspended until the court appearance yesterday?

A few years ago in Perth some bozo up for his 1oth driving whilst disqualified and drunk driving drove his brother in laws car to court, got another non custodial sentence , and 20 minutes later the cops found him drinking in the car and marched him back where he was sentenced to jail for contempt of court.
Annoying opposition supporters since 1967.
