When you're watching your own team play and they're playing well the empty stadium really didn't take anything away from my enjoyment.

How about the rest of you?

The sad irony is that's the best we've played in round 1 for years in a season that may not be completed.

Ah well enjoy it while you can.

Geez the Dogs were surprisingly poor.

I’m surrounded by arsewipe bulldog fans! Apart from my beautiful brainwashed children of course!

So from the bottom of my heart Pies, I thank you!

Great start to the season, wins in the first game of the season have been in short supply. Replaying that singing go the club song love it, so much joy coming from the players.

Lots of highlights tonight.

Grundy at his dominant best.

The Brown brothers impressed, and Tyler looks like a great player for the future. Maybe Bucks' comparison to Fyfe is not as far-fetched as we think.

Mihocek was excellent as the main marking forward. He remains a consistent and reliable player that deserves more credit than he's received.

Howe was terrific as usual as our main intercept marking defender.

I was against the footy from going ahead all week, but this cheered me up a lot. Great to take my mind off all the problems of the world for a few hours.

Fantastic start to the season.

Highlights for me were Grundys improved tap work, our improved centre clearance work, Tyler's promising debut even started in the centre square, Daic's 2 snap goals and DeGoey brute strength.

Tyler will need a Botox job if he wants to match Nat. I'm told they're quite expensive and only last a few months.

I enjoyed the way we finished the game off, didn't let the result fizz out into a 2 or 3 goal win. Last year we would probably have let the dogs in with a sniff. Was a real professional team performance, the way we choked their ball movement all night was really impressive.

Grundy was very effective with his tap work, hopefully he can have a great season full of it, if so then his $1m pay check will be worth it. DeGoey didn't look too interested, did a couple of nice things. He doesn't look fit to me, why that is idk.

Just a strong, solid performance. 10/10 for defense, should have scored more heavily for all our dominance though, still need to work on that. A good start and nice to win a round 1 for a change.
RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.

I think it's a little unfair to Fyfe to compare him to a player as good as Brown. Fyfe didn't have half that poise in his first game.

Didn't he just!! He looks so fit and lean. Defence was superb as is usually the case.

Just fantastic to see Brodie hitting the ball out instead of down at centre clearances. It worked a treat. :D

Loved Checkers and Mayne - such no nonsense, hard-working footballers.

A wonderful start to the season. Amongst all the current doom and gloom, it' s just what Pies supporters needed. :)
