Oh I forgot. Channel Seven trying to make absolutely sure Maynard is rubbed out for the rest of the year. We may have to take this one to an appeal because Michael Christian won't cut us any slack either. What is it with these former Collingwood players?

And while I'm at it BT...

Just shows how well our defence absorbed their pressing.
And shows that even if we win the flag, we need some strategic recruiting for the midfield. Simply not good enough at the moment.

^ get me the footage where they state Maynard needs to get rubbed out. You won't, because it's not there. They asked the question after a player was stretchered off. Nothing more.
If it was one of ours, you'd be headless calling for the gallows.

Just enjoy the win.

Concerned we could not put them away and the i50 difference was not good. We seem to win without being clearly superior.

The off season recruiting was huge - Hill and McStay both vital.

great to see Fly win a final because another loss would have set a pattern. the decision to leave Noble out was 100% vindicated.

Nick to come back, and Josh will be better next time. Long way to go, but this is the high road to glory now.

Thankfully came away without any noticeable injury concerns. A fortnight off then the return of the prodigal son. His class and decision making is sorely missed.

DITTO. And if we do win the flag, it will be 17 other clubs that need the strategic recruiting, not us.

Wow. That was a massive tactical win. We said the coaches would earn their pay this week, and did they ever. The call was made with the conditions and their on-ball dominance to go defensive and even tag at stoppages. It was almost overdone, but it worked.

A good bit of luck involved, but we made that luck with the tactics. They missed goals late, but we should've had them blown out of the water already if it weren't for our misses. The Brayshaw injury no doubt helped us overall, but by the same token it interrupted our complete dominance early.

In the end the right call was made to set up this way and stifle their momentum. In the dry we can run over them, but we lack the big bodies over the ball in the wet. The double-ruck call was spot on, too, as Gawn was BOG and dominated once Coxy tired.

To complement the tactics, the defnce was superb, while aside from those first half misses the forwards did enough structurally to limit their run off half back.

The risk was always going to be that we'd be unable to regain any momentum and score once we locked down, but we did just enough early to mean it worked.

That was a huge gamble in one sense, but in another sense they would've always had our measure in the wet, so we backed our defence to beat them, and they did. Moorey and IQ were superb, Bruzzy and Murph were themselves, and WHE played his best game for the club.

The difference between our dry and wet games is night and day, so in the end the coaching team got it just right. Make no mistake, in these conditions they would've run over us earlier. On a dry day, we'll run over them.

Bloody awesome. As we know, we're a few mature big bodies short, but with smart tactics and better weather we're well in this.

Fingers crossed Nicky Boy will be right for the next one.

Melbourne had 69 F50 entries for 7 goals.

Our back line was massive.

Got the only result that mattered but if we play them 10 times with that inside 50 differential I doubt we win it more than 1 or 2 games in 10.

Our defence was superb but lady luck was well and truly on our side tonight in that final quarter.

[quote="Meredith1965"]Concerned we could not put them away and the i50 difference was not good.

Yeah 8 consecutive 50/50's against will do that to any team.
