Welcome to the club, Ned.

Good to see a VFL player of ours rewarded with an opportunity. Gives hope for other players on the VFL list that there's a possibility to be a part of the AFL squad one day.

Collingwood have selected Midfielder Ned Long with Pick 19 in tonight’s Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

The 21 year-old, inside Midfielder has been elevated to the AFL list after a dominate start to the 2024 VFL season. After five AFL games with Hawthorn between 2022 - 2023, the midfielder joined the Pies list at the start of this year.'

He has averaged 24 disposals and nine tackles from his six VFL games this year, including 28 disposals in Rounds Two and Three respectively.

Not going to happen.

Apart from the fact that he would struggle to match one of the elite midfielders in the game, he has an injury, back in a week or 2.

We are recruiting footballers, not athletes, and trying to make them footballers. The club feels he has improved under our system and we can't deny that works.

Our chief Craig Kelly is big Ned. Now we have a Long Ned. I’m glad we don’t have a short Ned! Unless Joe Richards cops the Ned name
