Nice one! What are you going to do about your university course?

Study off campus this semester, and by the time next year rolls around I'll look at transferring to ANU or the University of Queensland, or I might even stay with Deakin and do it all off-campus.

The big question is do I go to Canberra or Brisbane???

I already know I want to go to Brisbane but I told Canberra I'd accept their job offer - before I find out about the other. I guess I'm searching for a way to rationalise going back on my word so I don't feel too shitty about it

I think you're entitled to renege on it if you've had a better offer. What are the jobs, by the way?

Look, I joke about Canberra being terrible, but it's not that bad. There's not much to do, but the weather's nice (by which I mean cold) and the people are pleasant enough. It's a pain if you don't have a car, though. Public transport there is horrible.

If you want the Brisbane job, act quickly rather than stuff around the people in Canberra, accept the Brisbane job then call the Canberra people promptly.

Apologise, acknowledge that you accepted in good faith but then received an unexpected opportunity too good to refuse so you must respectfully decline their offer. Apologise again for any inconvenience.

Do it quick and firmly and you won't lose any respect from any half decent organisation, stuff them around and delay and you will.

If you take the Canberra job out of some sense of obligation you'll constantly think whenever it gets shitty what would have happened if you took the Brisbane one. Life's too short for regrets.

Easy decision NPM

Brisbane = Hot babes in bikinis
Canberra = Public servants in cardigans.

^ I think you're entitled to say no. I've done it before. Just tell him/her you don't think it's appropriate.

Agree.

Say that you like to keep your work life and personal life separate and your facebook is for personal, not work.

I have no one from work on Facebook and make no apologies for it. Work is work, personal is personal. End discussion.
