Hawks had just as many out, I don't believe we are top 4 yet but confident we are heading in the right direction.
Btw - sick & tired getting done by them arrogant d@ck$
Hawks had Mitchell, Hartung, Gibson, Whitecross and Anderson unavailable for senior selection.
Pies had Fasolo, Maxwell, Sidebottom, Goldsack, Brown, Reid, Sinclair, Lynch, Karnezis, Scharenberg, Freeman, Oxley, Hudson, Gault, and Ramsay.
Maybe not quite even.
Maxwell, Sidebottom, Goldsack, Brown, Reid and Sinclair are the only ones that would come in if fit and firing. Of those who would get a gig in the Hawks team and I would suggest Sidebottom and Reid only.
Just stating the facts. As to who people consider viable senior options that'll be pretty varied given the range of opinions offered on this board about certain players.
And you're seriously suggesting Hawthorn wouldn't welcome Brown, Reid, Sidebottom, Scharenberg and Freeman... seriously.

Really? sure there's no room for Clarke, Mooney & Yagmoor?
Your opinion of each of the players does not reduce the raw numbers, they had 5 players unavailable 3 who are arguably in their best 22, we had 15 and 7 of them are arguably best 22. If you think our list is so poor there is a team down punt rd a few km's looking for supporters.

Yes, we have different views on players. I stated Sidey and Reid would be in. Brown in their best 22, no way he isn't that good. As for the two others how many games have they played? I must have missed all their games.

So their pick 24 from the 2013 draft is good enough to get a game at Hawthorn but our pick 6 & 10 wouldn't if fit and available.... yeah, right!
And you seriously think they'd slam the door in Brown's face if he knocked.... yeah, right!

It's hard to know what to make of the result. Clearly throw Maxwell, Goldsack, Sidebottom, Reid, not to mention Sharenberg and Freeman into that side and we could possibly spank the Hawks. But will we ever have such a side?

The biggest outs for Hawthorn on Saturday were Mitchell and Gibson. Those two have caused big problems for us in the past but apart from that they had a relatively strong side in despite Lake and Gunston being underdone somewhat as they were just returning from injury.
I think we were missing more across the park in terms of the players that would be automatic inclusions into the senior side such as Sidebottom, Goldsack and Reid. Despite that, excuses cannot be made as you can only play who's available at the present time. Sometimes it'll go in our favour and other times it won't.
Stating actual facts isn't making excuses, they had 5 players unavailable for selection, we had 15, fact!

Chances are that if both Freeman and Scharenberg were injury free and had had a full preseason I am confident that would have played their first AFL game by now. Sinclaire and Karnezis may also have been in the mix.
I think you could old fully discount Clarke, Mooney and Yagmoor.
Not debating your point Member 7167 but apparently Clarke played his best game for the season in the VFL last Sunday... I'll laugh if he suddenly becomes a contender for AFL selection....

And I'd have all 3 ahead of Armstrong, probably Ramsay to at this stage, if the need for a BP/HBFer arose.

I would have Armstrong ahead of Mooney. Agree with the rest.

I don't doubt that it was bigger compared to Hawthorn but only about a third of those unavailable would have been certain starters on Saturday.
This includes Sidebottom, Goldsack, Reid, Brown, Maxwell and possibly Fasolo. I didn't include Scharenberg and Freeman as they haven't played any footy so far this year and they're only first year players anyway.
However we look at it, injuries have hurt us since 2011.
