One positive thing I take out of today's game - the superlative Jeremy Howe is leading the charge for Mark of the Year. Loved the smile on James Aish's face when he took that one!! Fantastic game all round Jeremy!
I am very glad he came to Collingwood!!What a pick up he has been.

we lost because the usual suspects cost us goals from turnovers and basic skill errors. 1/4 their first 2 goals were from turnovers in critical positions. the first goal was indisputably the worst school boy error of the afternoon the rest followed on from there.
when we have leaders on the field who constantly make these errors it puts us under more pressure than we need to be and it costs us energy, trust, confidence and the opposition that we had just slaughtered in every aspect of the game suddenly grow a foot taller. how does bucks coach this out of the players, it just seems that he has now incased a prime piece of the puzzle for a winning formula in the way we can rip open anyone at anytime over a period in a game with ball control and defence/offensive structure, but its these errors from the usual suspects costing us games. the coaches know how we lost and will lambast those players you would think. its been happening far to long now and bucks must be sick of the shit some of these overpaid numskulls serve up.

I have never seen worse umpiring. Right in the clinches too!
That cost us the game. Holding the ball? Really?
Have a look at yourself AFL, because that was the worst I've ever seen.
It's a bad look to blame the umps for a loss, but Bucks should smash them in the media and cop the fine. F#*k, I'll put in for the fine
Pies- No complaints. We are playing good footy.

I'll take another positive. Set shot goal kicking. Finally.

E wrote:i just DO NOT get how they can continue to have rules that enables the umpires to have complete ability to use judgment at nearly every contest. In the last quarter there were at least 5 holding the ball decisions paid against collingwood and at least 5 times where the EXACt same thing happened the other way for no call. I find it especially hard to watch the inability of umpires to reward collingwood for tackles in front of their own goal, but their willingness to do it the other way.

a montage of decisions would make for interesting viewing. the problem is, you cant pinpoint the MISTAKES because each instance is a pure judgment. Its only when you do comparisons that the implicit bias reveals itself.

So the umpires will get a positive review but that was pure highway robbery.

I have never been so disgusted at the role the umpires played in our letting this one slip away.

I also agree with what others have said in that Sidey, Scharenberg, and especially Adams and Smith made some really bad clangers accross half back that led to a number of goals to the dees at a time when we had the ascendancy.

Pies have let at least 4 games slip through their fingers this season.
Simple explanation E with no public remonstrations allowed against umpires it gives them the latitude to do whatever they like with no possibility of censure or penalty.

And someone needs to intsruct them before each game not to allow the publicity and magnitude of the occasion to influence their decisions!!

absolutely guttered after all that. we should have sewn the game up in the third instead of letting them come home with a wet sail. when they opened up we couldn't run with them but they don't like intense pressure.

keep in mind this is a team which has bludged and tanked for years. they cried foul when scully left and demanded that the afl go easy on them after their big fine for tanking. we and 16 other clubs helped pay for roos to come along and rescue them and our reward is the bullshit qb game which eddie everywhere keeps insisting is the reason why we get so many games at the G. I call BS on that and BS on this game. it's time we stopped propping up shit stain clubs like the dees and let them find their own way. It's time we demanded a slice of the pie and started showing some balls instead of being pushed about by pauper clubs and the soviet socialist afl.

about the game itself... it didn't help that we butchered the ball at times which resulted in costly turnovers but the scumpires played their role and helped to ensure the win for the toffs. we did well and showed what we're capable of but we were always going to be up against a fresh side coming off a bye and playing their biggest game of the year. whereas we are injury plagued and coming off a trip to perth. you could tell we were buggered by the end of it. if we had elliott, reid, varcoe and wells running around then I suspect we would be celebrating a win and not what could've been.

I don't think our season is shot but there is still room for improvement. our ball movement is getting better but it's still the costly turnovers that kill us. our kicking for goal was great but we really need to do either do away with the sideways rubbish or only allow certain players to kick across the ground.

Disgusting, umpiring, coaching and 2nd half.

Can't blame the trip to Perth v Bye as we have won 2 3rd qtrs all year, we cannot come out after half time and perform except for Hawks game where they had plenty in the tank due to showing up late!

For our awesome midfield we got creamed after half time. Most telling stat to me was at 3 qtr time, hitouts 53 to 11, hitouts to advantage, 9 to 5! What's the point of a gun ruckman if we can't win the clearances? Or is Grundy just good at getting hand to it and not to a teammate?

Less said about Darcy the better, maybe he prefers Melbourne over Collingwood? Reminded me of Dawes just flat handing marking attempts instead of grabbing them

I also ask, how did we play with 2 or 3 loose men in defence yet constantly they had players on their own inside 50?

That's the season dusted, if you can't beat Melbourne we we won't and don't deserve to play finals

Upset, angry and most of all bitterly disappointed.

While I know Grundy is only 22 I was also bitterly disappointed with his game: at half time it was 30 hitouts to him and 11 to Pederson. On effective tap outs Pederson had 5 while Grundy had 4. Something is not right with him. Having 54 tap outs is a great number but not when the vast majority is wasteful

Langdon was a liability & he thinks he is better than he actually is: he could have passed the ball onto 2 players in better positions but chose a low percentage option of trying to be a hero & shoot for goal in a poor position. His decision making & ability to kick poorly in the backline contribute to turnovers leading to goals. This is not the first time he's done this. His laziness when on the mark & not bother to try to distract an opposition player shooting for goal smacks of arrogance or being too self conscious & not thinking of the team. I saw another episode of his self centredness at Vic park last week. He just needs to do the basics & play the percentages. IMO he needs to pull his head in & play for the team.

Adams has helped us win games but he should look to handball in the backline: he tries hard but lacks polish.

Broomhead: stop friggin' handballing to a player who is either about to be tackled, is outnumbered or is static.

Pendlebury was well curtailed again by the Fuchsias. We haven't sorted this out.

At times our players seemed like the title of Keith Dunstan's autobiography: "No brains at all".

There were positives. Aish & Maynard did well I thought. Now to watch the replay.

The free against Levi Greenwood in our forward line has been discussed on "On the Couch". Gerard Healy says that prior opportunity needs clarification. I'll say!!!!

Never been so angry after a game in my life. Actually felt like crying. I love this football club but we were f....d today. Take the fine tell them to f... Off. And f..k the welfare off. Play Essendon on QB. Greenwood didn't have the ball. It was held to him. Then Sidebottom ... **** I could go on. Just so angry

umm.... no, you can't seriously think that blair was the difference between winning and losing today, that's insane and comical. what about wells? varcoe? reid? elliott? goldsack? I would argue that they were more important losses and have made a greater difference than blair would've.

The umpires won the game for them. We made a few stupid decisions on the field ,but at least 4 goals were kicked by the umpires. The worst game i have seen umpiring since the NT game i saw on the tv on the weekend where the Sydney team appeared to bring their own ump. What was the free kick count and where were they paid ? Someone is going to lose a grand final through rediculous decisions like we had on multiple occasions ,today.

We won the game ,but the scoreboard says otherwise . Ripped off.
I blame my hair loss on supporting Collingwood for 50 years
