'When asked to determine how much of the decision to terminate the playing contract was commercial, and how much of it was moral, Clyne said "the game doesn't exist without sponsors".' (ABC)
Not a good reply.
'"And I've not had any company come to me and indicate they have an employment contract that would actually have allowed this to occur..."'
So maybe if Clyne didn't want to "allow this to occur" he should have put it in the contract. That's if the players' association would have allowed it to be in the contract.
Castle and Clyne are a joke. Whatever happens from here on, they should lose their jobs.

If anyone is interested, and for those willing to get around the paywall, this is part 4 of a 4 part series on the Folau saga. The first 3 parts are linked in the article so you can read in order.
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/rugb ... 9dde96ff0f
Quite a detailed bit of journalism with a lot of behind the scenes details which shows how this was not just a kneejerk reaction to a social media post but more like a straw breaks camels back scenario.
Also covered is how he might negotiate a return to NRL.
Who said tabloids can't do decent journalism?
Whoops, thanks David, link fixed.

Folau set to seek $10 million in damages from Rugby Australia
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/rugby-u ... 51v53.html
"In documents filed with the Fair Work Commission on Thursday ..., Folau will seek to have his May 20 sacking deemed unlawful. He will pursue damages including the value of his $5 million contract as well as the monetary value of other lost opportunities.
...
Folau is challenging his sacking under section 772 of the Fair Work Act, which prohibits an individual's employment be terminated on the basis of religion.
A statement released on Thursday said Folau had filed applications to have his case heard in the first instance by the Fair Work Commission. If the parties cannot reach a resolution, the Commission will issue a certificate to that effect, paving the way for Folau to take his claim to the Federal Court."

Folau sends explosive letter to RA over code-of-conduct 'leaks'
https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-unio ... 51vu7.html
'"I would like an explanation as to why recent detailed media articles about me have revealed aspects of confidential sworn testimony and witness statements from the Rugby Australia Code of Conduct Tribunal," Folau wrote. "This is blatantly unfair. As you know, the Tribunal hearing must be closed and private, and Rugby Australia was obliged to keep all information confidential.
"I would like to know why Rugby Australia has not managed to maintain the integrity of its processes and ensure that information was kept private and confidential."
...
A statement issued by Rugby Australia on Saturday night said: "RA has acted with complete professionalism and integrity at all times through the process in which Mr Folau was found by an independent three-member tribunal panel to have made multiple, serious breaches of the Professional Players Code of Conduct.
"While we will continue to respond to any legal action as required and will continue to defend the values that underpin our game and the work done by the hard-working volunteers, we will not engage in a running media commentary."'
