I actually thought we played quite well considering and never gave up.
WAs a lot better than the insipid effort of GWS, or even Port for that matter.
WAsn't nearly as bad as the scoreboard looked.
Not sure we've got the list to win a GF but never know when finals come.
We do have the game style if can get the scoring happening again.
But melb look a genuine threat this year. Shows what years of very high picks due to ineptitude can do for you.

I hate excuses but...
1. Injuries. What can i say?
2. The Fixture. The fact that Melbourne had a 6 day break compared to our 4 is not acceptable. It showed. We looked spent by 1/4 time.
3. Umpring. That was one of the most one sided, biased bodies of work of I've seen by AFL umpires. Why were we not getting rewarded for our tackles when they dropped the ball? Where was our arms being chopped? Everythime they went near it there was a whistle and they got a free. Often, when we DID get a free, we were already off and paid advantage, so it had no bearing.
We really had no chance.

His physical condition is pathetic for a professional athlete. He let himself go so I assume that he didn’t believe he was ever going to be playing again.Cruisinwithdids wrote:Collingwood during the Buckley era have a poor history at selection by favouring Buckley ‘yes men’. How Lynden Dunn can be on an AFL ground with that body shape is beyond comprehension. It is embarrassing. And Stevenson gets dropped. Ridiculous

True, but the fact we have him in the side just shows how crippled and tired the side is - more a reflection on the state of affairs than Dunn himself. The more games he play the leaner he is likely to become (e.g. as per Jack Steven), so a bit unfair singling him out given he's in the side against all odds...5 from the wing on debut wrote:His physical condition is pathetic for a professional athlete. Just a debate about the umpiring standard and howler calls that went against us. Agree it was not a reason we lost, but just one facet of the perfect storm brewing against us:Rd10.1998_11.1#36 wrote:Geez mate, we lost by 11 goals not 11 points...tbaker wrote:Don't forget:think positive wrote:Yes unfortunately we never get the fairytale, but the karma bus seams to find is often enough! It’s funny watching it now, pretty clear to me it was a bad call but that makes it better! I want them to talk about the umpiring, because I’m sick to death of it. That tunnel call against Sidey, the non push in the back to Daicos, and that bullshit 50 m penalty when the ball clearly had not gone 15 metres!
-the non holding-the-ball call on Petracca in the first that ended up in an early Dee goal
-the deliberate May handball out of bounds in the third when we were pushing hard to try and get back into the game (had scored 2 points in the qtr and hadn't been down Dees end); they get it forward and goal - game over
-the slide below the knees call on Josh Thomas in the 3rd (which was not even comparable to what the Dee did to Sidey) that had Bux almost rip the coaches box apart
There should be an official complaint made this week about the reaming we received...
There were some pretty shitty calls on both sides honestly
-injuries pre-match, plus in-match
-compressed fixture
-opposition come off a 'normal' break; us coming off the shortest scheduled break
-umpiring on the day and Dees kicking goals from everywhere (and us/Cameron can't even slot our first shot from 35 out), could see it wasn't going to be our day...
I find your lack of faith disturbing
I don’t think that it’s unfair.
You are either serious about playing senior footy or you are not. He isn’t.
But you are correct as the fact that he has played 2 games shows how desperate we are. Having Brown, Varcoe, Ruscoe, Reid, Thomas, Wills & Madgen along with Dunn in the team meant that we had 8 players in yesterday’s team that were not of AFL standard. The match result was hardly surprising.

Thing is, I wouldn't go delisting him from the rookie list in a hurry either for 2021; our talls are all falling over. He knows he is insurance-only now.5 from the wing on debut wrote:His physical condition is pathetic for a professional athlete. He can be played either back or forward, for as long as his ACL holds up.

Put aside injuries, short breaks whatever you want to add
We have not improved as a side since 2012
We had a good patch 2018 and hung on in 2019
We have recruited badly
We have poor skills
Coaching staff, Fitness staff Are all overrated
We had a review under Geoff Walsh. Gave Buckley all the support for n the world.
We are not a feared club
Teams are not afraid of us
It’s like reliving the same nightmare year in year out
Enough is enough
Thanks Eddy And Bucks time for complete overhaul
