Brayden Maynard - Bruz
Moderator: bbmods
I've been pretty excited about Maynard's prospects since seeing his draft tape. And while he has coughed up some pretty ordinary turnovers, many of them have been from overambition, rather than sloppy kicking (and yeah yeah... some inexplicable brainfades too).
I'd like to see him stay back. He's one of the few of our boys capable of playing defence with a bit of seanut in them. Only really him, Marley and maybe Frost, though even then, Frosty's pretty tame at the opposition player.
When we've got types like Rambo, Reid, Howe, Schaz and even Marsh, who I think will be more of your "tough but fair" type, it's a pretty banal backline. Oppo forwards won't be intimidated enough and will have more headspace in which to ply their trade. You want them to be looking over their shoulder though, hearing the footsteps.

Sorry, but that's a load of rubbish. Maynard is a very hard worker and Bucks loves him. He'll be a 10 yr player for us.Steve86 wrote:mate lucky to be getting a game. Is slack from what I hear and only came in because ramsey got injured who thoroughly deserved the spot over him from work rate + as a footballer. Probably won't get a game next year.

Re: Maynard to the midfield in 2017
+1. He's a tough bloke for his age & size. He works very hard & Bucks has wanted him for a long time. With "the pharaoh" (Ramses the rebounder) to return next year things are potentially looking upRudeBoy wrote:Watching Maynard get better each week and with his size and natural aggression, I wonder if he might become a midfield weapon for us next season, given that we should have other defenders in Scharenberg and Ramsay available. The idea of him smashing open packs and kicking long into our forward line is an exciting prospect. Overall, for a 19 yr old kid who has only 30 or so games under his belt, I reckon he be anything.

Ouch.
There's a place for some hard nuts too.
I like the kid, I loved the time he beat Stevie J at the contest, followed up to get the ball then powered away from him to deliver a good pass.
Kid has skills and likes it physical. Good attributes to have.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
This kid is very skilled....and tough as well. We don't have many who combine these attributes.Pies4shaw wrote:Is there really a place for this guy in a side with Ramsay and Langdon as the half-backs? I know Buckley only seems to recruit half-backs and slow midfielders who can be retrained as halfbacks but surely we need a few skilled players in the team?
