Haha, I didn't notice that at first, but now you mention it...

(I suppose pop-punk has never been renowned for its musical originality!)

So this is Iron Maiden's new song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhBnW7bZHEE

Like the tune, there's a lot going on in the video clip, a serious lot.

This article has a go at unpacking what's going on but IMHO only scratches the obvious. https://loudwire.com/iron-maiden-writin ... s-meaning/

I'm seeing America and the UK influence in the middle east and the rise of China all mixed up in this. The final scene is the temptation of Eve in my mind.

i think ive just scarred the neighbours for life! hubby had music on out the back, i just skulled a couple of maxs with dads scotch in it, and let fly, my songs, 80s! flame trees, shook me all night long, lyin eyes, born in the usa, keh san, however you spell it! its been coming, i needed to cry this out! I danced in the rain!! now i need to get the cats to get thrashed! i know he was horrible, i know this was to be expected and its what he deserved, but its just so damn sad that only 1 person on the planet cried because hes gone, and yes, i miss him. funny my older sister and i talked recently and realised that when we were kids the fun stuff was still dad, my younger sister doesnt get that. no he didnt deserve me, and i know i did more than i had to. my brain hurts tonight!f but i guess i need to acknowledge as much as i hated him i loved him. nobody has mentioned him except my friends. my house is full of flowers from friends! cheers dad, i dont know why you were so tormented, i hope you have peace, and i forgive you.

Fvck the neighbours, crank it up, blow their walls down.

You did good. Real good. Now it's over. You stood up when you didn't want to, when you shouldn't have had to. But you did. Well done you.

Cheers Jo.

Vale Jean-Paul Belmondo. Here's the song I always associate with his name from the height of British psychedelia - Donovan's magnificent "Sunny South Kensington" on the 1966 "Mellow Yellow" album:

A special shout out to the brilliant arranger on Donovan's early albums, John Cameron - it must have been a blast for him to play featured parts on the harpsichord, the piano and the organ, all on the one song! It's amazing how one wonderful musician can make you think of an antiquated instrument as synonymous with 1960s fashion.
