FFS, portable doesn't mean they're caravans.
Do you reckon the Darwin camp on which the model is based could be used to house indigenous homeless?
Do you have the slightest clue what's involved relocating those "portable" bungalows?
Where does WPT in his wisdom propose relocating some of these "portables"? You need land. and if you relocate some to P4S backyard, you then need to move them back and boot the homeless when you get another wave from overseas.
Engage brain.
You build a quarantine facility at Mickleham that is for quarantine, it doesn't fix homelessness in the CBD.

It doesn’t have to be one fit for all

You're the fkn goose.
A quarantine facility is not a panacea for homeless people. If you have land in the appropriate place, stick some proper housing there, not temporary things designed for short stay with no kitchen or laundry.
The barnacles on your arse from too much cycling is cutting off the blood circulation to your brain.

The ultimate goal of the modern Olympics is said to be to contribute to world peace by bringing people from around the world together. I get the feeling that you don't agree that that's what it does.
I read a good book many years ago called Lord of the Rings. Not the one you are thinking of, it was named after Juan Antonio Samaranch and documented much of the corruption in the organisation.

1. Relax: no one said panacea.stui magpie wrote:You're the fkn goose.

2. It can contribute to homelessness and or other needs for temporary housing
3. I deal with homeless people who stay in local areas sometimes in cars or under bridges not in the CBD
4. You should check out regional towns sometimes and find out about their homelessness
5. Perhaps we could demolish Crown Casino & relocate some of the portables there too
Plenty of adaptable responses to such resources. No need to be so rigid in one’s thinking.

Before the Barcelona Olympics in 92 the government rounded them all up & loaded them onto trains and then deposited them at the other end of the country. The theory being that the games would be over by the time they returned.

Settle Bargearse, I'm not being rigid. I'm used to having to adapt in things like this, you and the ole Taswegian Possum wrangler are falling into the same trap Dandrews did when they first set up hotel quarantine and farked it royally. Focus on the current need and get that right, which is a quarantine facility.watt price tully wrote:1. Relax: no one said panacea.stui magpie wrote:You're the fkn goose.

If at some point in time that facility is no longer needed and the buildings are in good enough condition to be relocated and re-used for homeless people, great.
If on the other hand you think housing homeless people in a compound facility in the middle of **** in Mikleham is a good idea, lets just round em up and send em to Manus or Christmas Island until it's available.
Oh, and I grew up in a regional town and visit it regularly. Unlike some who stay in their Bayside burb when they aren't slumming it in Sydney.

The Sewage strikes back.
https://www.news.com.au/national/victor ... 7988e2ac3eMore than 200 Victorians have been told to urgently get tested for coronavirus, as the state reports a sudden and unexpected surge of viral fragments in wastewater.
Authorities have contacted 246 people living in Melbourne’s western and northwestern suburbs, who have been urged to get tested as a precaution.
Dozens of new suburbs in the city were listed as at-risk on Thursday night, adding to the growing list of suburbs where COVID-19 fragments have been found in recent days.
Although the department initially said the detection of fragments was likely due to viral shedding after the infectious period, stronger action was necessary because a known positive COVID-19 case had been in the community.
“This additional action is being taken due to the strength of the wastewater detection and because a known positive COVID-19 case, from flight QF778, has been in Victoria in the past 14 days,” Victorian chief health officer Brett Sutton said.
“In response to strong and unexpected COVID-19 fragment wastewater detections reported yesterday in Melbourne’s western and northwestern suburbs, 246 people who were in those areas have been contacted and are being asked to be tested as a precaution.”
