Yeah that was my first thought Daz. Getting new talent at the expense of much the same existing talent seems spurious to me
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

Pies2016 wrote:I believe one option available to us for keeping a spot open, is to guarantee Cox ( or anyone else uncontracted ) we would select him in the pre season draft ( the last draft before final list lodgement ) I’m not aware of any rule that says we can’t re draft a delisted player in the pre season draft but happy to be corrected.
Cox could then be picked up with either our first or second selection depending on any interest in another player or not. Of course, Cox is always a chance to go elsewhere but if we were to keep him hanging on that long, it only suggests we were a bit non committal towards him anyway.

Also, does anyone have definitive info on Madgens contract status. I’m reading conflicting info and I’m inclined to think he has an offer in front of him which he is yet to make a decision on. If so, he’s cutting it pretty fine to advise the club of his decision.
If what you say unfolds then I think we should keep two open spots for the preseason draft. I still think we can pick up a very good player with our second selection in the preseason draft.

Patrick Naish would be thereabouts and Fly will know him better than anyone.
If the coach rates him, he’d be a reasonable pick up for no trade.

The knock on Constable (according to Cats fans) is he’s slow, not defensive and can only play one position (inside mid). So sounds a bit like Sier 2.0

Also I believe he’s been a free agent for 2 years and nobody wanted him

Ryan Garthwaite has been delisted by the Tigers. I reckon Collingwood should be all over him with the McCrae and Leppitsch connection. Need to find a fullback and plan for Rougheads successor.

The ball drop, now I know who he is, no thank you.

Also, we should try & develop Kelly and even Ruscoe, they are all the same weight and height.

If we feel we need to go big then is Brander still available?
