Gutted, he was a fantastic kid that was going to be a star, this club has gone beyond any common sense getting rid of him for absolutely nothing.
So what if he had a quiet year in this $@&^# up season? He still knows how to kick goals and in a side that struggles to kick 10 a game he was invaluable
Then again maybe that’s the problem, Buckley’s gameplan doesn’t include kicking goals so he had to go. I look forward to him trying to coach a 0-0 draw in 2021...

It’s worth noting that Stephenson didn’t want to leave but in the end decided that he would prefer to play for a coach that hasn’t even been selected in preference to playing for Buckley. You can only guess what effect that has had on the remaining player’s relationship with Buckley.
Yeah, adds an extra dimension to this horror show.

Yeah it amazes me that so many didn;t want to leave, with Buckley at the helm. 2018 clearly was the best year because we actually had some coaching personnel (Longmuir and Hocking) who could relate to the players.
If any player who left didn;t actually want to leave, I dont believe it was due to an attraction for Buckley.

Stephenson: I feel for all the Collingwood supporters. I love the support that they gave me at my time there. I feel bad for all the kids that have the #1 on their jersey. But I hope that I hold a little place in their heart, because they'll always hold a place in mine

I read this statement from Jayden, and I can honestly say I felt the first signs of a tear coming to my eye.
Cynics will say that his script writer prepared it for him.
But 21 year old AFL players don't have script writers.

But based on all evidence, we have thrown away a scintillating talent.
Where other clubs would have sought to find a solution to whatever the issues were, we decided that the issues were far too difficult, or simply that our coaches could not find the intelligence/patience/ etc to resolve them.

In a nutshell, big attitude issues and multiple warnings throughout the year. Seriously I think we’ve dodged a bullet and the next big Collingwood scandal by trading him, if you want to believe it or not. Club made the right choice, trust me on that. Club won’t say it but I will.

Gee you guys have short memories don't you. Jordan De Goey still has an indecent assault charge to be heard in court. Do you want to trade him as well and say don't shut the door on the way out? And while you're at it why not go back further in time to Nathan Buckley's playing days. He got suspended for a week for wiping his blood on Cameron Ling's jumper. Did you call for Nathan Buckley to be sacked at the time? Only now when it suits you do you come out with these sorts of comments. Talk about throwing stones in glass houses.

^ if JDG is found anything but innocent, then yes he’s out the door ASAP. Thing with Stevo is I’ve seen the evidence. Trust me, he’s better off elsewhere. Nowhere near what JDG is accused of, just young and dumb stuff, but after the betting scandal it’s unforgivable

I listened to Geoff Walsh on Eddies breakfast radio show.
After the piece about how no one had spoken to Stevo and he had to ring Bucks, Walshy said that there had been numerous discussions with Stevo over the year, with coaches, team mates and administration. The subject of these was what he had to do to get back to what he'd shown at his best, to be a successful AFL footballer and a successful part of the Collingwood Football club.
He was very careful not to denigrate Stevo at all but the clear insinuation was that there was a gap between Stevo's behaviour and what the club expected and he was well aware of it.
I'd appreciate it if you could PM me the details as you understand them.

Again you're missing the point here. Every AFL player have issues during their AFL careers. Dusty Martin had a number of issues at the Richmond FC. If you follow the same logic Richmond should have got rid of Martin years ago.

Thing is though, Dusty etc pulled their heads in and performed on the field. Swanny still misbehaved off field, but he put the effort in on game day and at the club so much that people turned a blind eye to him having a drink and whatnot during the week. Sidey will have to put in a monumental preseason and 2021 to make amends, but he’s mature enough to do it and genuinely wants to do it. Stevo didn’t get this into his head and he continued to be a tosser thinking talent will save him.
