We have too much crumble: we grow our own rhubarb and the best crumble in my humble opinion is Mrs WPT’s Apple and rhubarb crumble. She’s been making it since we first met 2 score years and somethink positive wrote:Hehe, gotcha!
Sorry but I bet your apple pie ain’t a patch on Tannins crumble! Double crumble please! Hold the Apple!

I've gone off apple pies, though if Mrs WPT was to offer me a slice, she wouldn't have to ask twice!
Three reasons:
(1) I was getting a bit tubby eating too many of them.
(2) I've moved* and don't have access to the same beautiful apples, at least not until a few young trees grow on a bit.
(3) I've gone a bit gonzo on savory pies and pie-like dishes: shepherd's pie, cottage pie, beef pie with wine and mushrooms, and a delicious un-named thing of my own invention made in layers starting with tomato and onion and fennel and capsicum. Into that, press slices of pumpkin or sweet potato. Sprinkle generously with very finely diced corned silverside toasted with garlic, crushed pepper, and a little red chilli. Spoon on mashed potato, top with grated cheese. Press several depressions into the spud. Into each one, break a whole duck egg. (Or chicken egg if you don't have ducks.) Sprinkle with more cheese and bake until the egg whites are firm - about 25 min.
* This may be a world first. I don't think anyone, not in the entire history of the known universe, has ever before complained about a scarcity of apples after moving to the Huon Valley.
