There needs to be a sign here to direct the premature evaluators to the Josh Smith thread.

Mugwump wrote:^Amazing, really, that a team with no game plan, and nothing to play for but pride, can run a top-4 contender side to within 3 points on their own fortress, when they were fighting to make it into a top 4 position. The game plan was good tonight, and barring a few skill errors at critical moments, we'd have won a game we had no right to expect to win.
Quoted for excellence. :D

I was on the bandwagon from the outset. I see him as the replacement for Blair off half forward. But much more effective

I recall that when Hine picked Scharenberg at 6, he said that it was a toss up between him and Aish.

Whilst I did not follow his career at Brisbane, early days with us he was, in the words of the great Jack Dyer, getting to where the ball ain't.

This past month he has been a revelation. Always knew that he was silky skilled and now that he is getting lots of the ball, his poise and time is something we greatly need.

However the thing that has greatly Impressed me is his marking ability under pressure. Has incredibly good hands especially under pressure and just shows he can handle the tough stuff.

Think we have a potential A grader here.

Aish is a bloody ripper, and has proven a number of posters on here totally wrong on all counts, not that that's not hard too do, at the best of times. Aish is a gun, such a goer.!

Mugwump wrote:Just love the way he kicks the thing. Straight, low, directionally - as a first option. The one mark on his game tonight, I think, was that he was outmarked one on one too often.
I think that Happened when Wood took a Few On Him but I did like when after 1 Wood Mark that Aish put Wood on his Ass pretty much Straight After

Another Thing I have Noticed too that he is getting lot more Penetration on his Kicks now compared to early in the Season

Reminded me a bit of Pendles last night without, the time travel though.

But I think there is another plodding mid he might aspire to become and have the skillset to attain... Mr James Hird [washes mouth out]

I've already owned up (at least twice) to being wrong about this kid. However, even Aish himself has admitted that earlier in the year he lacked all confidence. To me he played like someone who did not even belong at AFL level. However, as a result of being sent back to the VFL by Bucks, he has certainly found his mojo and is delivering better than I ever expected. Earlier in the year he played without any self belief. Now it is me who is a believer. Well done to the kid.

BTW, when I first saw Dane Swan play I thought he was a dud too!

While you're force feeding humble pie, I'm pretty sure I've never bagged him, I generally don't do that, but this kid the last few weeks has been an absolute gem.

Comparisons to Hird are not out of place. Future Brownlow Medalist and multiple premiership player. Will play 200+ games for the Pies.

Lets just not get him to coach.
