I noticed that, and didn't think it was great form. It's as if that because he is always 3rd man up in a contest, he is not happy when someone doesn't do it for him.
Which under a zoning system could very well be a coaching directive.
There will always be times that the defence is caught out one on one. I didn't notice that particular incident but if the ball is there to be spoilt & you are there - YOU need to spoil!
I did see Harry standing still under the ball looking around perhaps for support [or maybe his man?] deep inside 50 without making any attempt to punch - Last quarter.
It worries me that too often when an opponent has a mark/free kick within range of goal we seems to loose concentration. I mean, there is no way they should be able to hit a leading target inside 50m in that scenario where the defence has HEAPS of time to block any holes!
The defensive unit is switched on when it's time to rebound [blocking the man on the mark for example] & attack but sometimes they're caught napping when it's time to defend!
I watched a bit of the game yesterday, and I think Maxy was upset at Harry on one of the occasions because he didn't leave his man to help out when the ball was landing right in front of him.
Maxy was probably in the right and the wrong. He probably should have been closer to his man, but Harry probably could have left his man to punch the ball.
No doubt, when the moment and opportunity to give your teamate a chopout is presented, you go,thing is teams are going to expose the Captain`s weakness as the year progresses and into the Finals,he needs his teamates to go third man up to help his lack of strength in a one on one match-up.

Good call.
Maxy wasn't within 10 metres of his opponent on some occassions. Maxy is right to ask for assistance from Harry, and he is the general when it comes to organisation...but when you have responsibility for a player, you shouldn't be relying on other guys to do the job for you.
Even if Harry left his man, it still would've made it a 1 on 1 because Maxwell was not even in the frame on many occassions.
Teams are going to try and expose Maxwell...so he has to get tighter with his defending...and before he dishes out criticism he has to worry about doing his job first.
There's more to life than footy.........just not much more.

Opposition coaches WANT maxi to play tighter on his opponent and is often dragged away from the hot spot.
Maxi's role has been to play loose, cut the angles when he can be third man up to spoil or mark the incoming ball and then set up the rebound back out of defence.
Hird said the other night on commentary he would like to know how many of Collingwoods goals actually pass through Maxi's hands.
People bag him because he plays loose but I am sure that's instruction from the coach.
I say if oppo coaches are trying to make our defenders accountable and not allowing the spare man in defence then send another bloke down their and keep doing so till we flood their fwd line!
Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!
Pies played well and dominated for 3 1/2 quarters.
Great game. exciting stuff. Blood is racing still.
LOVE IT!
GREAT Post.
Wish everyone else would stop looking at it as 'the cup is a quarter empty' rather than three quarters full!
SO glad to watch us play like we should for the first 3 quarters. The quality of play was excellent and reminded me why i support this great team. Especially good to see Leon and Leigh lift their game.
Certainly would have liked them to shut down Bulldogs run in the last quarter but they did enough to win so I am still happy with that.

The time they showed Maxy really going off at Harry, Harry had been up the ground with his opponent and was a bit out of the way when the contest happened, Maxwell was at fault as he was about 10m in front of Hall and tried to run backwards and make the spoil, maybe he was abusing Harry for following his man and not staying inside D50?
Really happy with that win, rate the doggies and to beat them twice in one season on their own patch is a great achievement.
Let me be the first to say well done Macaffer. Did a fantastic job on Griffen for most of the game, kept him to 17 mostly ineffectual disposals and managed to wrack up 15-16 himself. He continues to develop. That 50 was an absolute joke, Chambermaid is an absolute tosser!
Defensive 6 continue to have an indifferent season. All had their individual moments throughout the game but it's just not quite 100% yet. Obviously means there is significant scope for improvement as we build toward the finals.
Leroy was a good inclusion. Still struggle to rationalise why he should get a game before Dawes given the upside Dawes offers longer term but I'm happy that Leroy can come into the side and have an impact when required.
Welcome back Leon. Medhurst & Fraser will be better for the run.
Just how tough is Ball... sensational in & under work throughout the match.
Jolly a couple of very clever taps which resulted in goals. Tough ask taking on Hudson & Minson and at least broke even on the night. Again crueled by umpires for locking arms, when is he gonna get some umpire love his way for the same thing?
