Could not believe when Jolly got tossed aside in a ruck duel that it was no free, and neither could he. He's had that paid against him every game this year. The rules were different today. Wouldn't have necessarily changed the result as we seem to run in mud against some teams, Demons being one of them.
Get back on top.

huge concern in my eyes.. this is happening way too often.. not sure of how many hit the post as i recall 3 or 4.. but in my opinion alot of the shots we had were gettable and not just a side effect of our wide gamestyle... MM cant kick the ball for the players. I think us supporters need to not be so reactive to this draw and other losses in calling for MM to step down.. in the end we had 58 inside 50's and didnt capitalise.. very dissapointing

The seniors and VFL have so many quarters where we do ridiculous things like kick 1.9, 2.8. 0.11 and so on. It was there in the pre-season and is through the whole club. Its got to be the wide game plan. We are so easy to defend against. Just clog up our fwd 50 in the corridor and we'll spend the game shooting from the boundary or bombing to the crowded goal square. Even MM said our quality of inside 50's was poor. But it was exactly the same against Geelong and St.Kilda. They slowed us down clogged us up in front of goal and we shot from crazy angles with no space. This is why we'll have 5 less shots against St.Kilda but still lose easily.

He refused to follow JAMAR forward which cost us the game, and his continual failure to win the hard ball, and put his body on the line is inexcusable.
Yes he's had too much responsibility and footlball from a young age, and therefore may be burnt out.
Maybe he needs a change, either way - he should be dropped for at least 3-4 weeks until he shows a preparedness to do the above.
On the positive - brad was fantastic today.

LOL what you forget to mention you troll is that they hired others with a greater appreciation of the modern game after cleaning out the old wood. You never let facts get in the way of a brainless rant do you?jack_spain wrote:They are twits for every team. I noticed at some critical times the Melbourne fitness staff had Jamar off as well. Save the cost of going to Arizona and pass that on with reduced membership prices for us.
Then, have the players pick up a football and practice kicking for goal, and kicking to a leading forward.
Kicking for goal, basic skills - tackles that hold. This is stuff you don't need to spend $$$ on .... the modern game with guru's and fitness scientists to match every player on the pitch (the same twits who had both Pedders and Jolly off for the most vital 2.5 minutes of the game I moght add) - yet all we need is to stay back after school and kick a few hundred balls every day for a month.
Time to send ALL these fitness hacks packing back to the Olympics where they belong. I want footballers (like our living legend Dane Swan), not players who can run like the wind but can't kick to save their life (Action Jaxson).
F*** off fitness staff. Geelong turned their fortunes around when Bomber Thompson decided to sack his entire fitness crew at the start of 2006. If these idiots had their way Geelong wouldn't have picked up Jpod. They've have deemed him too old and incapable of good Beep test scores.
I hate fitness gurus. This is football not athletics!

Still a very unsettled side. Lucky to share the points and limp to the break.
Thank the god of your choice for Toovey!!
We played poorly in the main & eked out a draw. They played well & got a draw. No Maxwell after less than 10 min into the second quarter. We were running up & down on the spot for a fair bit of the last qtr.
Great pressure goal by Tarkyn who seemd to be well off his best today. What has happended to Wellingham since returning from injury?
Fraser in the crunch was just not concentrating when it counted - that is poor for a big man. Jamar was terrific again.
Dick is a great finisher for us. With & when Leon, Medders, Didak & Dick are fit & firing we can be very dangerous. We need the break badly to regroup because it has been a torrid first half of the season & many of our players need the rest.
Kicking so many behinds today really gives new meaning to traditional football.
Swanny, Pendles & Daisy - very good in the main today. Toovey displayed good judgement. Harry was tremendous but we really missed Maxwell in the line up, Johnston's run & penetration & Balls in & under & Didak's skill.
Could have been worse though - we could have lost.
Just took my dog for a walk: Looked up & guess what - the sky hadn't fallen in.
Just take a few deep breaths using your diaphragm (yes I'm sure there's a purile line there somewhere) in through the nose, hold it then exhale out through the mouth - ahh, that feels better.

Injuries seriously upset team balance today and the goal kicking was poor again, though many shots were rushed and under pressure. The Demons will bother other sides above them besides us as I believe they are certainly on the way up. I can't see why we played Barham today, his skills are just too sub standard for AFL level. Presti was a concern today in the way the way Green got away from him today, particularly in the last quarter. He struggles now against mobile full forwards. If Maxwell stays out, get Goldsack in there ASAP. In fact even if Maxwell does come back, get Goldsack back in if he's fit. We need his attitude and fight desperately down back. In the end we got two points - it could have been worse. The break comes at a good time now for us to regroup and rest the younger players and reload for the match against Sydney - traditionally always a good one for us.

Mate, you really should get a new sport! The performance was disappointing however the last quarter was an absolute cracker, pressure, tension, it had it all. Edge of the seat stuff. Soccers got nuthin.jack_spain wrote:You should have said not as bad as the Socceroos performance. Agree. I know everyone is bagging Josh but in the last quarter, in a centre bounce he was clearly infringed and got not free then a minute later he gets a b/s one against him, you could read his face saying "I am wasting my time".Cam wrote:Could not believe when Jolly got tossed aside in a ruck duel that it was no free, and neither could he. There were also two of the most embarressing things I have seen for a long time today in the last quarter (I guess thats what pressure does):
1. Jolly's attempt to take the ball out of a boundary throw in, penalised for holding the ball - absolute shocker and a sign of a dumb player;
2. Jaxon Barhams handball to 3 Melbourne players near their forward 50m line - the worst I have seen for quite some time.

Thanks for not disappointing Dyso, I challenged you in the game thread and you delivered beyond expectation.piedys wrote:Well done you inept bunch of overrated, overpaid hacks.
A drawn against this sack of dog shit. Oh, bravo our elite midfield. Fumble after fumble after fumble. Any decent team would have put the cleaners through us today. And the kicking at goal, Christ, this will hurt us come round 22, you can carve that in stone.
You'd all want to thank Christ Brad Dick was fresh and fit enough to play two games in two days. He saved today from being THE mother f*ucker of all debacles.
Now special mention to all you imbeciles who have slagged off at Tarkyn this year - shut your f*ucking mouths. I'm tired of you.
He was playing for his career, and has saved it at least for now.
Now onto the GAME LOSERS:
Davis. F*uck me - who let you back into the 22 you squib bludger? Never have i seen a player dog so many contests, miss so many tackles, and over-run so many loose balls.
His missed tackle in the centre clearance immediately after Dick's last goal was his quintessential token piss weak effort. You are where the ball ain't. I don't care where you go - just F*uck off!
Fraser - the end is nigh. Take you gold watch and hit the road pal.
But you'll probably only drop that too.
Jolly - you are looking like the worst buy since Graeme Teasdale.
Can't remember the last time i saw such a highly rated ruckman slaughtered in the centre week after week. No wonder Roos didn't exactly throw himself off the Harbour Bridge when you left.
The rest of them at least contested and put their heads over the ball.
Even Medhurst made an effort in the 2nd half, much to my surprise.
As usual, it was Dees GF today, and all their hacks playing out of their skins, rarely missing a target, with Cathy Freeman look-alike running riot around the packs, without a care in the world. I was just waiting for Russell Robertson or Yze to bob up in the square and say Surprise !!
Just get Rusling back into the forward line. Nobody else can take a catch.
If he falls over, so be it. He couldn't be any worse than the other two.
And the real tragedy is, this team just doesn't learn from it's mistakes, nor does it's pig headed coach. And that is why, boys and girls, it will be groundhog day again this september.
Positives? Yes, i'm positive we lost all momentum for 2010 today.
It is no different to a loss.
Any issues with the above, please PM them to me.
Dyso
Perhaps the boys can do the same in the second half of the season!
