The GBI has obtained additional surveillance video from the Wendy's restaurant. Agents have also reviewed video posted on social media.
These new videos indicate that during a physical struggle with officers, Brooks obtained one of the officer's Tasers and began to flee from the scene.
Officers pursued Brooks on foot and during the chase, Brooks turned and pointed the Taser at the officer. The officer fired his weapon, striking Brooks.
A copy of this video will be released to the public

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
So, TP, an unarmed, sleeping drunk is woken by the cops, takes a taser off them, tries to taser them and then runs off and they kill him. How is that any better? I’m not missing any bit. The only bits that are relevant are that a guy who was, at worst, inconveniencing people has been shot dead running away from police. Just because someone breaks the law doesn’t mean that violent cops can kill them because it’s more convenient than chasing them or stopping them in some non-lethal way.
Anyway, a guy who was in a queue at a takeaway restaurant has been shot dead by police, the Chief of Police has resigned, the cop who did the shooting has been fired and the restaurant is gone. It’s hardly a red-letter day in the history of community-policing.

I don't understand why you seem intent on making this seem as though Police crashed in on an innocent bloke having a nap. They were called because he was passed out drunk behind the wheel at the drive through. Should they have tucked him in and gave him a kiss on the cheek? Leave him there until his food is ready and let him drive home drunk?Pies4shaw wrote:He seems to have been sleeping and unarmed when they arrived and running away from them when they used lethal force. Now there’s a dead person and a restaurant burnt to the ground. That’s only, at best, a 3 out of 5 for the attending officers.
They had every right to intervene and attempt to make the arrest, he shouldn't have driven while drunk, shouldn't have resisted arrest, shouldn't have taken the taser, shouldn't have run and shouldn't have tried to shoot Police with the Taser. He made multiple very poor choices which culminated in his death, the Police only made one. Shooting him. They shouldn't have done that.
As far as those who set fire to the restaurant, I hope they're arrested and jailed for arson and criminal damage.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

Idiot yes, deserved to be shot dead, no.What'sinaname wrote:^ exactly.
Idiot deserved to be shot. What other choice does the Police officer have? Get tased and have his weapon stolen and shot with his own gun.
I've got a novel idea for people....stop committing crimes!!
The cops had a lot of choices, killing him wasn't the best of them.

More officers resigning. This trickle will become a flood and these Democrat cities will become lawless hell holes like Detroit and Baltimore.

whatsinaname is right though 'stop committing crimes" he could have stopped at one, and allowed himself to be handcuffed peacefully, but he just kept racking up the crimes.

thanks for the link, a lot more info there. hopefully the new video has more evidence either way.Morrigu wrote:The GBI has obtained additional surveillance video from the Wendy's restaurant. Agents have also reviewed video posted on social media.

and Stui it says he died during surgery, so maybe it wasnt a kill shot as such.
look P4S i dont condone this at all, but i do see both sides. especially the way things are at the moment, why would you resist? how drunk was he?
as with Stu i cant see why your making out he was just asleep in his car somewhere. he was creating a problem for other people, so the police were called, and then they tried to do their job.

he fought off 2 big burly cops, and grabbed a taser. he fought them to get the taser, he didnt just nick it off their belt without them knowing, they were rolling on the ground, 2 against one and they couldnt hold him! you are being ridiculous here!Pies4shaw wrote:So, TP, an unarmed, sleeping drunk is woken by the cops, takes a taser off them, tries to taser them and then runs off and they kill him.
