Yeah its looking like the most likely scenario now from the outside, pick 18 is almost useless to us so we aren't keeping it, it won't be enough to get the May deal done but would be close to getting Beams.
At a guess I'd expect to see Beams back in the black and white next year.
If that does happen, some people here will need to lower their heads in shame... you know who you are.

I'm not sure on this one, I guess it comes down to what he costs us. Better players have been traded and compensated for less than pick 18. As for his place in the team, there are at least 3 blokes in the GF side I would've picked him ahead of (disregarding how well they played on the day).
Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood.

Talk is that Beams' contract was front ended so Bears have already paid a bit - I think I heard on Trade Radio (and I put little stock in figures bandied around) $900K to start down to $750K.DT wrote:I suspect salary cap is more a problem than the trade to getting Beams
Shouldn't be a huge issue to include Beams - more a matter of choices (ie maybe someone gets squeezed out). We have moved Fasolo, delisted Kirby and still have Greenwood and Broomhead to decide upon in addition to the likely delistings of Blair, Smith and Murray. I would expect that Goldsack's and Dunn's contracts have slightly decreased for 2019.
Daicos would have the usual offer for his age I expect. Minocek is the one that might work against us a bit as he will be wanting a fair bit more than what he was on in 2018.
Several of those soon to be vacant list spots will be filled with draftees on minimum contracts - Quaynor, Kelly, Bosenavulagi and potentially Wraith.
All We Can Be
I don't think it's that simple. Bris. would have front-ended the contract in the knowledge that overall they pay him what they wanted to pay him. If he wants out before the contract expires, they will want money returned, so overall it's still what they wanted to pay him. In effect, that money would come from the new club's contract.MightyMagpie wrote:Talk is that Beams' contract was front ended so Bears have already paid a bit - I think I heard on Trade Radio (and I put little stock in figures bandied around) $900K to start down to $750K.DT wrote:I suspect salary cap is more a problem than the trade to getting Beams

Barrett can GFHS (I'll let you figure out the acronym!) for leaking the Murray ASADA case. Confidential sources, my ass. If Murray was still a Swan or a Hawk, guaranteed no one would have known about it. That's two big drugs leaks now involving Sydney (they leaked the last one a few years ago that derailed our season, and now an ex-Swans). Things that make you go hmmm...
