Apparently there's more people in hospital in Vic with Covid than are being reported

https://www.theage.com.au/national/vict ... 59567.html

Differences in how NSW and Vic report means Vic numbers are lower than actual

Typical media beat up.

Is the media going to report new covid cases at every major event from now on?

If we didn't get cases from the cup I'd have been amazed.

The current increase in cases should be directly attributable to cup day parties and BBQs

To be fair, this was the first large organised event since lockdown and a deeply controversial one at that. So I expect a lot of people are watching the outcome from this closely for various reasons, and whatever case numbers emerge from it (whether they be lower or higher than expected) will probably inform policy on event restrictions in the near future.

Which explains why Victoria’s hospitalisation numbers were always so low, every two weeks people were being dropped off the numbers despite still being hospitalised.

But then if they die they get counted as a Covid death…

You'd lose that bet. Most of them are just normal people who, for a bunch of different reasons, don't want to get the vaccine.

I don't agree with protest marches in general, I think they're counter productive and attract the lunatic fringe. No doubt there was a number of those in the mob but there's a lot of intelligent, educated individuals who for different reasons have a real problem with the vaccine and being segregated for declining to take it.

While I don't support their cause, I do agree that the new legislation should not be allowed in it's current form and I have sympathy for them.

Andrews' new bill needs to be opposed strenuously.
