Just been told the news reports are now on you tube, when darren millane died.

Very sad, alot of emotion and sad memorys re surfaced.

if not the biggest loss to collingwood, more painful than all premiership losses.

a game can be re-played,or watched over and over.

A life taken, can never be replaced.

Others are a better judge than me, I was too young and not in Melbourne, but i always felt that Millane's death really set us back not just from the obvious on field stuff, but i think off field our mindset, probably we were reluctant to move on as well.

Most teams are built around 4 or 5 players who are the real base of success. You spend years developing them and I felt when he went, it just knocked out a major part of the club, and is one of the reason for our dismal decade in the 90s. Possibly some of the reason for the resentment towards bucks initially as well i would guess. sub conscious of course.

Thanks for the link DTM. That footage certainly brought back some memories.

And to think that Jennifer Kyete is still presenting the news some 20 years latter.

What is the Tourist Bus thing they talk about on the Video about?

Millane and Dennis Banks were being silly and tried to "hijack" it.

No they didnt,

Tell the story properly, they jumped on the bus and just fiddled around with the horn and and wipers, the bus rolled back a couple of inches, the bus happend to have passengers on it,and the driver wasnt at the bus of the time of the incedent.
Banksy was the one that was behind the wheel, the papers blew it out of proportion, practicul joke gone wrong, every one jumped all over it,because it was collingwood and our larriken darren millane.

Darren millane was a star, our hero, and a massive icon to the collingwood football club, not some bloody bus hijaker.
And shouldnt even be joked about 19 years later on a magpies net forum.

Given how traumatic this event was, I am still amazed that players out our club take stupid risks with alcohol, like Didak and especially shaw. You think the club would be red hot on this stuff having lost one champion to it.

Rana is one of the ladies. She took me to the footy as a young kid. Lived and breathed Collingwood like no other I know. When we left Vic Park it literally ripped her heart out. But she'll never turn her back on this club.

Very sad watching these reports again. Banksy has never recovered and turned fifty last year still bearing deep wounds from the loss of "the best mate a fella could ever have".

RIP Pants. The Raging Bull of Victoria Park.

No they didnt,
Hence why I emphasised the word "hijack", or wasn't that obvious enough?
