I am a big fan of Darcy Moore. He looks like he could be anything. But --- I'm not sure we can pronounce him a star after a 4-kick game, even if one of them (from a free kick) led to the game-winning goal.

^^ Yep this. Worry about his hard hands in marking contests as well. Kids getting games on potential at the moment but hopefully that'll pay dividends sooner rather than later.

I wanted to punch Bucks when I saw Williams taking the kick-outs: he just can't seem to understand some players are not great kicks, and therefore should not have kick-out duties. Ox, Reid, Pendles and perhaps Ramsay should have been the ones.

Brown fumbled everything early but our usual mr fumbles, Frost, was surprisingly clean. Adams also had a bad case of the fumbles in that first half, and was generally not as good as we know he can be. Ditto Crisp.
I thought Grundy played better and offered plenty more than what Witts did last week. It's not all about winning hit outs. The difference between the two is that grundy has mongrel and even in an average performance can influence the contest and the scoreboard.

We still had too many passengers. Gault, MaCaffer and Aish gave us very little. I'm prepared to cut Aish some slack as he should improve, but Gault is not up to AFL standard and MaCaffer is just way too slow.

Before the game I was criticised for saying that Fasolo could become our Stringer type full forward. He is such a natural forward, who plays on instinct and demands the ball. And he's an accurate goal kicker.

Despite getting smashed in the hitouts as usual, Grundy showed tonight why he is needed in our team. He is a footballer.

Hopefully, we can begin to improve and gather some momentum. Go Pies!
Sorry Rudey.I thought Grundy was terrible.Wits is a far more accomplished ruckman, but I would like them BOTH in the team.I think it works. Gault should not be allowed to take the senior field again until he learns to stop looking into the head lights. He was terrible last night and blew at least 2 lay down mizaire goals as well as just not competing. Our kicking has me totally bamboozled.I just cannot understand how we can be so consistently bad at it.We must have turned the ball over 25 times last night. But a win.I'm happy and I backed them .
I actually noted that Grundy was clearly smashed in the hitouts. However, I thought that he provided a physical contest all around the ground, and was a contributor with kicks, handballs, smothers and tackles. He had 18 disposals to Hampson's 13. He is a competitive beast and needs to play every week. However, given that Gault has been so disappointing....again....it may be that Witts will return to take his spot. As someone else noted, if only we could combine the assets of Witts and Grundy into one player, our ruck problems would be all solved.
And this is why I' reckon both Witts and Grundy should play together.Grundy would fill Gaults position and it's sorted. 8)

it makes it that much bloody harder if you can't get first use of the ball.

With some others not at there best in this area he has been invaluable the last two weeks. I'd questioned whether he'd really have a spot but he's delivering for us at the moment, just fit him into my votes this week.
Agree, couldn't squeeze him into the votes but wasn't far off.

Yeah...... Nah! Hard hands currently, misses lots of marks he should be taking. The occasional pack mark is an exception rather than the norm.

Exactly. Always starting behind if you're not at least breaking even in the ruck contests.

Probably not sorted when Witts has split webbing in his hand.
