One thing you can be certain of.... Adams will give 110% to the magpie cause. Will be a idol of the magpie faithful for his courage and determination. I will put my reputation at stake with this kid (for what its worth), he will leave no stone unturned to improve above and beyond to be his best for the black and white. He has the skills and drive to be a magpie icon. I ,for one, will be wrapped to see this guy doing honorary laps celebrating another Magpie flag! Yep, it will be so.

We know Geelong wanted him and they don't select many duds. I know that Essendon really rated him too as one of their players told me. They just weren't in a position to be involved.

Richmond wanted him too and they tried to Trade for him in a Trade for Dustan Martin

Dave, there were a lot of clubs that wanted him... but he "chose" Collingwood and the Giants then did a deal with us... I can't thank them enough... Seriously, which player can get to choose to go to the club of his choice after only two seasons... they must have really respected him to do that, plus, they obviously wanted the best deal and thought that the Pies were the ones to offer that...

^ Lions players did too - Docherty, Yeo etc after 1-2 seasons. There are restraint of trade issues. Hence Rockliff's dismay about the sense of entitlement of young players

^ AP, I agree there can be restraint of trade in certain circumstances... however none of those, in my opinion, would have qualified.

Essentially, all the players we've mentioned above... Adams and co. Could have, and most likely would have, ended up in the draft if they couldn't get to their club of choice... Just a couple of examples that I'm sure we're all familiar with... Nick Stevens wanted to come to the Pies and Port wouldn't accept what we offered, so he went into the preseason draft and got picked up by Carlton. Obviously, that didn't work out for Nick nor the club he chose, us.

Another one I'm sure you're also familiar with is Luke Ball. He wanted to come to us and we wanted him. From memory, we offered Pick 30 and one plater, or the other option put forward was for two players, both of whom are premiership heroes (Wellingham and Goldy). But the Saints would accept our deal... Ball went into the draft and I think from memory, we got him at pick 30... Very nice! That's one that worked out for the player and the club he chose to go to.

But it is rare to get to the club of your choice, particularly given that the player in this instance, Adams, has been the second highest ranked player from his draft pool. I can see why they wanted a sweetener. No offence to Heater... Love him and that smother!

I guess they wanted the Sweetner as Adams best footy is ahead of him and Heaters won't get any better.

Good way by Hine and Co to offer a bit of Cap Relief so we could do the Trade that let us move from Pick 11 to Pick 6 to get Scharenberg

I don't think it's a bad thing to get excited about a new player to the club. He has shown some really good things at GWS as has been mentioned. Our program combined with being plonked into a midfield surrounded by elites like Pendles, Swanny, Ball (count him as elite for the moment, but may drop pretty soon) and A graders like Beams (so close to elite) and Sidebottom, should see him flourish. Expectation can be dangerous yes, but at the same time he has a pretty unique opportunity to become elite, and I expect he will.

Yeah Being in a Midfield that is full of AFL Harden Bodies and not just Kids will help Young Adams quite a Bit. Will help his Development lot more I reckon

He also seems to put in 100% to Training which is Fantastic.
