Yes, it is. Way worse.David wrote:Yeah, cool story mate. (Then) future premiership player Shaw could have killed himself and Didak when he got behind the wheel drunk, but I suppose the gossip you've heard about Stephenson is just so much worse.
And again, they were both in that car and Id consider that they both did it to themselves.

Again, both incidents were on them and them alone. When you put the whole game, club at risk well thats a problem. When your team mates dont want to play with you because of the stuff you did to them while families present then again Im ok moving them on.5:11pm wrote:Swanny was present as a young man was nearly bashed to death, and Dids rode wild style with a convicted murderer…
Not sure young Stevo has done anything to warrant that level of scepticism on his character…. Yet.

Clearly prone to poor decision making, but weren’t Swanny, Dids, Shaw et al guilty of the same indiscretions at that age?
Our best first year player in a decade and should never have been traded…

Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

hes a dumb kid, its a damn shame, he really could have been anything, he blew it with us, and he doenst seem to have learnt much. all the promises to north he would spend time in the gym, nope! yes anyone could have done this, we all do dumb things drunk, i fell in a fire last year, and im still recovering from the operation to fix the tendons in my hand!but then i dont have a massive contract to honour. if he wants to set himself up for life the easy way (ie playing a game he loves) and if he cares an ounce about his reputation, its time to pull his head in.
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

yes i still say we should have tried harder, however, i know plenty of parents who sadly dont seem to give a **** how much mischief their kids get intopiedys wrote:Although the lack of communication between our club and the guys parents, in relation to his behaviour from 201-2020, is a sad and tragic indictment on all parties involved.Piesnchess wrote: He's a dickhead, clearly has issues, we are better off without him.

Well, you'd expect the parents are totally embarrassed privately, if not publicly.think positive wrote:yes i still say we should have tried harder, however, i know plenty of parents who sadly dont seem to give a **** how much mischief their kids get intopiedys wrote:Although the lack of communication between our club and the guys parents, in relation to his behaviour from 2019-2020, is a sad and tragic indictment on all parties involved.Piesnchess wrote: He's a dickhead, clearly has issues, we are better off without him.
the amount of questions and innuendo they'd have had to deflect from friends and family alike over that 18 month period must have been off the charts...
The club just gave up, simply because they cannot manage neither people nor balance sheets; a dangerous recipe for those involved in any business.

What players do in their own time is their business. Our mistake is thinking that the players are angels. They're not. It only matters how they perform on a footy field. When they hold up the premiership trophy aloft on grand final day none of us will be thinking what the players are doing at home. That department leave to the mothers of the players or the unlucky partners of the players.Piesnchess wrote:5:11pm wrote:The kid could be anything.

If he was still at Collingwood this would be close to headline news.
Its not nice that he got injured but its no surprise and its his fault.
Collingwood did their due diligence and traded him. Period.
Not many in the media saw it as a responsible thing for CFC to do and move JS on to another club because its not news worthy is it ?
I mean why would Collingwood try and protect their sponsors stake holders ?? Why would they remove a negative role model from the squad ?? I wonder why ???
Heaven knows what JS did behind the scenes that we dont know about.
Yes you can argue that we held onto the rat pack and all the other players of concern but most of them would say they were lucky to get away with staying in the AFL system. Ask Swanny how lucky he was and ask him how Eddie was good enough to managed him through those turbulent years.
Its not like JS wasnt aware of his responsibilities either especially with the hard line that Buckley held. Warnings were given and Im sure he had a couple chances under Bux as well but enough became enough and standards had to be held and rightly so. When you have sponsors dollars in the balance stupidity can only be tolerated so much.
Good call by Collingwood I say. Wonder if the media will acknowledge the decision, probs not.
FWIW JS should have been worth more than what we got but after all the salary mis management JS became the obvious target and thankfully 1 little ol club put their hands up...thanx Norf ..your problem now!!
