There's no chance this time around. We have a government in Power that views Palestinians as inhuman and wants to kill them all and if that can't be achieved, ship them out.

You'd probably know better than I do that dehumanising the enemy is an essential part of warfare. Normal, sane people can't kill other people in cold blood if they think of them as people with parents, siblings and children.

Not saying I condone it, just saying that's how it works.

True, even more so these days. People find a media source and seek out opinions that agree with their preconceived notions which just reinforces those biases. The fact that both sides are spinning facts to suit themselves goes under the radar.

stui magpie wrote:. Again, my read of the situation is that Israel aren't deliberatley targetting the civilian population, but it's bloody hard to target Hamas when they use the population as human shields.

Forget about who did what to who first, let's just hope this current shit show is over soon and something can be done to actually provide proper living conditions to the people of gaza.
Israel isn't deliberately targetting the Palestinian population!!? What an ill -informed and reprehensible comment.
Hamas using "human shields" ?? The Bush administration used the pretext of "human shields" when it annihilated a million people in Iraq, just like Netahanyu and the fascists in his government to justify killing as many civilians as possible in Gaza.

According to your "read of the situation", Israel is entitled to bomb hospitals, schools because those sheltering in them are obviously being used as human shields by Hamas. Netahanyu and all the fascists in his government absolutely agree with you.

You want to erase history by "forgetting who did what to whom first". Every oppressing nation wants to do that. That is why the media is blacking out from its coverage of this crisis any account of the history leading up to this current conflict, because if they did then too many people who can actually read situations would understand that events of October 7 were the inevitable product of the brutal oppression carried out for 75 years by the militarised Israeli state against the Palestinian people.

Not expecting a reply from you, because you like to make snide/disparaging comments and run away, but I will keep replying to your comments when they are reprehensible because they shouldn't be left to stand unchallenged.

Latest document, a so called "concept document" from Israeli government sources canvasses the possible options for the Palestinian people when this conflict comes to an end. The preferred one for the Israeli government is to forcibly expel however many Palestinian people survive the current genocide into tent cities in the Sinai desert of Egypt ie concentration camps.
The option of a "two state solution" is raised, in typical obligatory fashion, but everyone can see that this proposal is totally cynical, given that the Israel is forcibly transferring the population of Gaza to the south (near the Egyptian border), and Jewish settlers are currently going on rampages in the West Bank, expelling Palestinians from their homes, murdering them if they resist, with the approval of the Netahanyu government.
We are witnessing a horrific crime against the Palestinian population, carried out by the Israeli government but with the total complicity of all western governments, who view the destruction of the Palestinian people as beneficial to their geopolitical interests in the region.

The attempts to explain Israeli policy say it all: there is no policy. I get the overreaction to what happened, but what is the policy in between the overreactions?

I'm bemused as to why anyone would think these events are any different to what we've seen for decades. This is a decades-long policy failure of endless Intifadas and tough talking. 'Getting rid of Hamas' isn't a long-term plan. It's a reaction. Hamas are mere placeholders in this and will be called something else in five minutes.

We've heard this parrot before: What else can they do? Five years later: what else can they do? Five years later: what else can they do? And on and on the same dumb question as if there hasn't been decades to formulate a roughly workable solution, or to build widespread international support.

Yes, but first we must defeat the terrorists! Yeah? Well how's that working out as a long-term policy? There comes a time when you have to stop banging your head against the wall.

The real question is this: why the effing hell have you not come up with a roughly workable plan yet, and why is the same loser who has failed in the task for decades still heading the task? That idiot Netanyahu has been in or proximate to power for decades; how in the hell can anyone think he's got something new and worthwhile to add? He's psychiatrically nothing but Trump; a malignant narcissist whose only motivation is conflict. If you want conflict, call in a conflict merchant addicted to conflict.

We wouldn't accept that sort of repeated failure in anything else in life, anywhere, on anything. One can only conclude that Israel, controlled as it is by leaders whose sole achievement is multi-decadal failure, has the very same policy as its enemies, namely perma-conflict. Israel even uses human shields in the very same way, which is why it won't even pretend to stop illegal settlements. Think about it: it has a policy of encouraging 800,000 people to purposely live in the firing line. That's precisely what Hamas does with its human shields.

Pathetic. Again, one can only feel sorry for sane Israelis and trapped peasant Palestinians.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.
