It exposes it and brings attention to it. One needs to be aware of bigotry in order to confront it.think positive wrote:so focusing on the negative achieves what??
Anyway, isn't it sad that the first word that comes into some people's minds when confronted with androgyny is 'revolting' or 'disgusting'? Pejic was born with extraordinarily feminine good looks; he can't help that, and nor should he have to. I don't have much time for the modeling industry, but I think it's perfectly understandable that he would use his looks to his advantage.
I'm happy for people to comment on the irony of a male being considered a better model of female 'fashion' than many women. It says a lot about how out of touch the fashion industry is with normal feminine physique and appearance, sure. But that point seems to be far from the minds of the commenters I quoted. They are disgusted because he is a man who looks a lot like a woman modeling women's clothing. I doubt, then, that they are much more understanding of transsexuals, transvestites or, when it comes down to it, homosexuality. These people would probably prefer that people like Pejic feel ashamed of their androgyny and try to look as manly as possible. Shouldn't that attitude be confronted?

Lol!!! Role model.think positive wrote:actually, without knowing it was a guy, my first reaction was disgusting becuase he/she/it is just way to skinny, doesnt look healthy at all, and is not a good role model.
I find it astounding that anyone could accuse a particular clothes horse of not being a good role model when an entire industry churns out millions like him on catwalks every year.
That's like blaming the McDonald's drive thru staff for the lack of nutritious content in the Big Macs.

Must confess, dinner was quite nice. Mild lecture about cholesterol worked wonders, a lite chicken alfredo. Very tasty.
