And whom would those players replace? White is debatable as he wasn't great last year. So either 4 to 5 maximum as opposed to 9 (one of whom is a Brownlow Medallist, 4 of which are top 10 draft picks, and 2 are our best medium forwards and first players picked in drafts) and a string of senior experience missing.Doc63 wrote:Ryder, Jonas, Homsch, Monfries, White would all probably be in their best side (OK that's only 5).Daniel wrote:Care to mention who those 7 are and whom they would replace?Doc63 wrote: And Port had 7 of their best 22 missing. All things being equal, I don't see an 11 goal turnaround.
I think you've been sharing a room with yourself for too long.
The point is, most sides have multiple injuries - its not an excuse for a pathetic performance like today, or winning only 6 of our last 21 games.
Post match. Pies thumped by Port. All comments please.

Goldsack started the year in the VFL because he was returning from injury and a modified preseason but don't let your ignorance get in the way of yet another fable. Maybe your team of consultants forgot to mention that.Gonzalo wrote:Goldsack started the year in the VFL and wasn't considered part of our best 22 for the majority of time before he injured his knuckle before Anzac Day. White to Port is a very important player. He has speed and he has line breaking ability. When fit, he is one of the first picked at Port.
Yes I can include him, because you ridiculously included White, who you claimed came top 10 in Port's B&F in 2014, when he didn't.
So as you brought up who came in the top 10 B&F, I think it's important to point out that Goldsack came 8th in ours.

You can bet your bottom dollar that the club will spin the injury line for the remainder of the year. It's all this club does now, it should be a PR firm or a political party rather than a football club. Infact I have already received an email from a club employee (I am happy to show it to a moderator to validate it) that they will use that narrative to defend their poor performance.

Apply for head coach, I'm sure you'd do much better with our list in its current state.Gonzalo wrote:You can bet your bottom dollar that the club will spin the injury line for the remainder of the year. People saying injuries aren't an excuse is crazy. How do you get synergy when they can't get more than 2 games together.
Dominated majority of the second quarter for no result, this really seemed to deflate them. The defense totally collapsed after this.
Thought Cloke's energy was good early, but like a lot of the players this waned.
Positives Reid, Howe and Cox's development. It is very evident how inexperienced our defense is. Thank god for Reid and Howe, although Howe's kicking didn't seem to be as influential today, perhaps due to the ankle or knee he seemed to aggravate.
I don't want to make changes to the defense but Frosty needs a spell and Maynard did turn it over a fair bit today. What do you do?
Very clear how important Adams is, I did enjoy Greenwoods tackling today. Think Jordan needs a spell as well, he really needs to work on his finishing and he seems to think he has all the time in the world in close.
Reality providing all are okay they'll probably play the same side next week, we can't keep making changes, well not 4 anyway.
Just a really bad day, like going back to those early rounds.

Good call, I think we've reaching tipping point like Gold Coast who are decimated by injury.Bucks2014 wrote:People saying injuries aren't an excuse is crazy. How do you get synergy when they can't get more than 2 games together.

Not going to be a great spectacle for the rest of the year, so let's get some games into kids with promise.
Expect to see Phillips in next week. I don't think Goodyear has what it takes.
Williams and Goldsack must be considered if fit to sure up our backline and forward line.

35 players used, more than any other club is FACT, not SPIN.Gonzalo wrote:You can bet your bottom dollar that the club will spin the injury line for the remainder of the year. I think you believed a lot of SPIN at the beginning of the year, when FACT was we were unlikely to make top 8, even without injury - given the age of our list and lack of time playing together.

But the club believed it would make the 8 when the traded away their first pick this season. They banked on the pick not being a Top 10 pick this year when they traded for Treloar.
Now they are about to hand over two Top 6 picks for 1 player in a period they are meant to be rebuilding. An unmitigated disaster.

Well that was a disappointing lapse. Effort was good to start but a lack of results and it waned fairly quickly and structures just started falling apart. It was cruel to watch Pies players being sucked into the contests while Port players maintained their places on the periphery and generally got an easy clearance. You could see their forwards breaking hard with confidence they'd win the ball.
Midfield spanked and defensive run left to too few. Poor conversion really hurt and not helped by repeated Hail Mary F50 entry. Tough game for Cloke to make a case.
Schmit is an absolute shocker!
Maynard continues to make errors but love the fact he continues to take the game on. Worked his butt off.
Sinclair best game for some time, great to have him back.
Loved Cox's game, best to date.
Blair great, kept us in it at times.
