The only time the coaching made any positive sense was the Boyd/Hocking
Longmure era when Nathan I suspect didn’t have the full day

When selecting comes again only a theory but I see Sando & Harvey going along with Bucks

There for any poor selection falls on Nathan,s shoulders

If we do change head coach we need a new coaching team

I can’t recall any player ever turning the ball over in a game as much as Sidebottom did last night. I didn’t keep a running tally but my guess is that it’s a new club record.

We lost the game in junk time, and second qtr when we relaxed the pressure (coaches didn’t tell them to put the queues in the rack). There’s almost nothing coaches can do at that point, it’s all up to the players.

Look at our lack of depth - anyone who thinks that after 22 full length games that we'll actually make the 8 this year has rocks in their head.

We are 2-3 players away from oblivion - for a minute think the impossible.. what if we lost say Howe, Moore and I don't know... lets add Grundy.. for the rest of the season (or a fair chunk) - where would our list be at... I'll tell you... wooden spoon territory.. thats where.

Nah. We all need to be realistic. Enjoy the kids this year. We have almost no injuries and we r competitive but will change. Wins aren't key anymore. We r not premiership material but we can be in a couple of years.

Yep.
I don't think he has the mental fortitude to cope with the game these days.
I get the feeling he doesn't care as much as he did in the past.
Put pressure on Sidney and his game crumbles.
Still pissed off with him leaving the bubble last year.

At the ground, when there were obviously 2 mins to go, the Collingwood interchange held up the “2” sign to show all on the ground (and stadium) that there were two minutes left (and then the same when there was one minute to go). It was at this point we kicked backwards for the first time all game. Plonkers should have just let us keep playing our game and we probably would have held on, but no, we tell the team there’s little time left, they panic, and the predictable finish ensues.

How we lost this game is puzzling
Again i rewatched the game and some things really make me wonder where this club head is at

Ok other than kicking the obvious poor performers like WHE and checkers (who had a poor game by his normal solid standards) let’s look at how we lost it

5 minutes to go we are 7 up and we started to go into full on defensive mode
Instead of being positive and looking to move the ball and look to get it at the other end where we might score or at least lock it in and let them make mistakes we decide to try over use it going side ways backwards and any direction other than forward
Ok now I’m not a AFL coach but on the night our strength involved us being dominate at hitouts so why wouldn’t we pump it long down the line where we could halve a contest or get it out of bounds set up and try and force it more forward ??
We’re is the leadership ?
We’re is the match sim for these situations ?
We’re is the ability to play to our strengths ?

Grundy dominated hitouts again but we halved the clearances basically
Buckley’s presser says a lot
I quote “people put to much emphasis on hitouts” “when a club doesn’t have a dominate ruckman they can set up easily to shark your hitouts like what happened tonight”
So if in the modern game a dominate ruckman isn’t be all and end all why invest so heavily in one ?
If the coach says winning hitouts doesn’t mean winning clearances because the opposition can shark them then why not change it up and just smash it wide or towards goal as far as we can and avoid the congestion?

After watching again I’m of the opinion we need 2 definite changes and 2 more players on notice
Changes
Callum Brown isn’t a AFL standard player. He has limited skills and brings limited value to the team other than he tries hard

WHE other than lacing out Sidey for a goal he was worthless. For a guy with close to 150 games he has limited impact on anything positive. Don’t start me on dropped marks and botched kicks

On notice
Thomas tries and tries but again he isn’t brining a ouch impact to games. To often caught out over thinking what he’s going to do and doesn’t hit the scoreboard anywhere near enough. I wonder at times does he have a brain at all

Sidey if you look and see he had 28 and a goal you would say yeah not a bad game but look deeper. He had 11 effective disposals out of 28 that’s less than 42% eff. Think about it for a minute 245 games and he he can’t at least use the ball at a decent standard. He was moved forward early and Starcevich absolutely gave him a bath. I was embarrassed for him watching how easy he lost contests and his lack of apparent desire to do better. He’s supposed to be a leader and leaders are there to set the example right ? So giving away 4 free kicks (all of which were there unlike some others) proved very costly
3 of them were in or around our attacking 50 giving them a easy passage out
Seriously for a player with this much experience to be so poor and undisciplined says a lot about where this club is at

Overall we should have won this game by simply playing to our strengths and not being so poor and panicking under pressure
The coach should and needs to be put on notice now
Tell him it’s not acceptable to play so poorly as a team across the board when it counts

I am truly over this Jekyll and Hyde team and players
Rant over

FFS we lost a game on the last kick against a probable at least prelim finalist. A little perspective.

Yes people show disappointment in different ways, fair enough. Ranting on social media is better going home and being a drunken tyrant to their families as previous generations have done, so there's that.

I thought our physicality was superb, but we failed with execution at crucial times. Plenty to work on sure, but not as catastrophic a result as some people like to paint it when they feel hurt by their football team not winning.

Credit to Daniel Rich for lowering his eyes at the end instead of bombing it to the square which most players would have done, and I think our defenders were preparing for.

Whoever the goalkicker's man was will have had a sleepless night, because if they had been closer then a fist might have saved the game.

Last night showed that we can mix it with the best.

I think over the course of the season the umpires will start to see Daniher's pushes in the back though, they are just so blatant.
Get back on top.

Cam mate all due respect we were finalists last year as well and the lions had a arm chair ride last year due to Covid
I get the premise of what your saying but sometimes you need to look deeper and watch the game again and look at what went wrong snd how it went wrong
We are miles off being a true premiership threat
If our defence wasn’t so skilled and well lead by Howe we would have been on the end of a 0-3 start
Moore Howe IQ Maynard Crisp Noble Roughead are the only reasons we aren’t mate
We need some fresh ideas and some better leadership both on and off the field IMO
