Both MacRae and Henry have older brothers who are playing good footy for their respective clubs. There’s nothing better than sibling rivalry if you want to motivate these kids for a big preseason. Their older brothers will also likely be great mentors for our two. The challenge will be for the likes of Poulter and McCreery who go back home to spend time with family and and catch up with friends. It’s not easy remaining disciplined and following a tough off season programme when all your mates want to party hard.PyreneesPie wrote:So true! De Goey in the news again for the wrong reasons.
He touched up IQ during the coach's address and in full view of the cameras.
Another field day for the media.
I know what I would do with players like JDG, get rid of him.
Remember Phil Carman with the white boots? Great player but bad behavioured and not so smart. He got himself rubbed out for the finals and then we had little chance without a CHF in the team. That made him useless, same with JDG he's a problem dickhead, unreliable and not a team player.

Yep, good points you make Pies2016. When Swanny visited the club recently and conducted interviews on the most likely members for a new rat pack amongst the current newbies, McCreery and Poulter were the most widely nominated! It was very funny and tongue in cheek, but I do hope it means nothing.Pies2016 wrote:Both MacRae and Henry have older brothers who are playing good footy for their respective clubs. Storm in a teacup. There's nothing in it just more media stirring. To get rid of a player for that is ridiculous. We going bad enough as it is to need to keep our remaining senior group together, not find reasons to get rid of them.KickTruly wrote:De Goey in the news again for the wrong reasons.

Occasionally the siblings don’t quite make it. Victor Daicos, Cameron Cloke and Neville Shaw come to mind among many others.gurugeoff wrote: Both MacRae and Henry have older brothers who are playing good footy for their respective clubs. Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

We should have found a way to keep Stevo too. And Shaw. Swannie knocked a guy out cold, so many forget that, they pay their dues.
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
Yep. All he was doing was trying to get Quaynor to crack up with laughter during an address from the coach. I spent 20 years trying to get my teammates to lose it in front of the coach and I did a lot more than pinch a teammate on the backside. Yes, it’s a different world but those are the things that keep smiles on players faces during the tough times.think positive wrote:100%MatthewBoydFanClub wrote:Storm in a teacup. Agreed. After the Giants loss, I’ve stopped venting over losses. Things are not going to turn around overnight.RudeBoy wrote:OK, I get it, most here blame Bucks. That's fair enough. We'll just have to agree to disagree. I simply think we don't have enough good players. Clarkson (who couldn't get the Hawks up over North), Hardwick, Beveridge and Ross Lyon combined, couldn't have got this team over the line.
Callum Brown is categorically a liability. His brother has some hope, but not much. Josh Thomas has done sfa since 2018. Unfortunately, Henry is but a boy playing against men. Until he develops a man's body and grows some cahunas, he should not be picked in the seniors. So basically, it was like we were playing with 3 less players than the Swans.
The only real positives to come out of the game for mine was the form of Cameron and (at last) Hoskin-Elliott. Oh, and the continued good form of youngsters Poulter and McCreery, who will each be 10 yr players for us. Also, Tom Wilson showed a bit as well.
So I'm not going to be slashing my wrists over our losses this year, as long as I can see the development of our young brigade. It's going to be a rough couple of years, but I'm confident we'll then bounce back stronger than ever.
Let this crappy season play out and let’s see what comes out of the wash at season’s end

You mentioned Thomas twice in your rant and I find it difficult to consider him a player who should even be in the team let alone a"Senior Member" of the team.He is a small forward who has "Amassed" 6 goals in 30 something games. It may be a few more games.Callam Brown is similar and how he gets selected is beyond my pay scale.Another small forward who has kicked even less goals than Thomas.A ball forward like ,Charlie Cameron would be capable of kicking 6 goals in 30minutes ,not games.Brother Tyler is nearly as bad and to my thinking, we go into each game 3 men down and I have written in many forums on many occasions, that Collingwood will never win a gam of football with these 3 in at the same time. You speak of senior players not doing their job, but yesterday, one senior player by the name of Brayden Maynard absolutely destroyed the debut game of Tom Wilson with some of the most atrocious delivery by hand and foot that you could imagine.I felt very sorry for him and I hope against hope ,that Buckley saw what I saw and gives him at least another chance and not send him back to the 2's. And why is Mason Cox all of a sudden out of favour when I think he's kicked an average of 2.5 goals in all the games he's played this year and at least puts himself into the picture. And use,I was once a Buckley advocate but [he has] <Snip - let's not talk politics in General Discussion. Thanks - Pies4shaw for BBMods> lost me forever. We need change and we need it now.Our season was lost in a 3 game brain fart where we put an AA Backman into the forward line and drop our most effective forward out of the team.qldmagpie67 wrote:I don’t see why people are so perplexed as to why we lost again
It was easily predictable
I’m going to make this really easy to understand for people
To win you need 3 important things
Planning - Application - Desire
There’s a old saying everyone has a plan until there punched in the face
Well that is we have 1 plan. If any team finds a way to disrupt or conquer that we are doomed
Application of any plan or strategy is important. We manage to do it on average for around 30 minutes a week. Mentally we are weak and that weakness starts at the head and works it’s way down the corpse.
Most of our senior playing group are mentally weak. They lack the necessary mental toughness to lead through any form of adversity or pressure. Pendles would get a 7/10 in this regard the others below 5/10
You can have the greatest plan ever but without the desire to be 100% committed to it you might as well stay home.
We have to many players who lack or don’t have the necessary desire to follow the coach for whatever reason
Leaders of men don’t say go as and do XYZ they say follow me and I’ll lead to do XYZ
If anyone for 30 seconds believes experienced players like Grundy Sidebottom Thomas have the desire to do whatever it takes to win games of football for this club they are seriously kidding themselves
Yes they might have good moments during a game but the desire to consistently do whatever it takes isn’t there
Finally our biggest enemy is we are as predictable as the media will be when we loss
We never offer up anything different really
We may move a player around here or there but it means nothing when the methodology of the structure never changes
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result
Match summary from last night is simple
Sydney are a relatively young side who last night didn’t turn up ready to go in 1st term. Coach let them know made a couple minor tweaks demanded his leaders set a example and the rest is history
1 goal 10 for 3/4 of football ?? Seriously even a 50/50 split of that means we are in the hunt if not winning
People need to stop making excuses for a coach and side devoid of the necessary skill set to get the club out of this mess
What we have is players like JDG Grundy Sidey Thomas who are consistently under performing across a game (they aren’t the only ones but it gets down to experienced players leading by example again)
Finally everyone banging on about Clarkson are dreaming unless we pay him so much money he couldn’t refuse then your not hiring a coach your hiring a money hungry pension planner
Why would any coach worth his salt look at our list and say yes there’s plenty there
Our best player in Pendles is at the end
Other than Moore Crisp Maynard all other players over 100 games (currently in the team or available for selection) are big reasons why we are the mess we are
I can tell you with absolute certainty there are serious meetings behind closed doors happening at the club considering the future of several senior players futures and a couple of contracted players as well
Don’t be surprised (injury toll permitting) a couple of statement omissions happen in the coming weeks to reset some players attitudes towards the value of there place in the team
