So joyful. this team has just filled me with joy. A truly extraordinary GF which has been the culmination of an extraordinary season...The emotion of Mason Cox in his after match interview summed it up for me...So much joy, and we will remember it forever.
A team that willed itself to win, and believed it could. On its shoulders, we just went for the ride of a lifetime, daring to believe in the dream.
This has filled the next few months for me with happiness.
My thanks to all those posters on Nicks who have provided so much balanced, unbalanced, reasonable, unreasonable, humourous, deadly serious, thoughtful, thoughtless commentary throughout the year, which in the final analysis sustains your hope, and ensures that you always know that you are not the only one suffering a massive roller coaster of emotion just over a code of sport.
Go Pies!!

Another record to be noted:
Pendles and Sidey have just become the two players with the largest time gap between their first and second Premiership medallion.
It used to be 12 years (Doug Wade, and another player from Adelaide whose name escapes me)
Now it is 13 years, and belongs to Steele and Pendles.

Thanks for the stats,Jezza. So it’s basically 121 years since we had such a close grand final win.Amazing.Jezza wrote:It's truedoriswilgus wrote:Really? That’s amazing.I thought it must have been a long time, but not quite that long.

Gotta say, Markov had a lotta GF mistakes that coulda been very costly. The 50m penalty. The last free kick to Lachie that's got all the attention for the (not-)advantage call.Meredith1965 wrote:Well, given where it landed, you can only assume it was the right decision. But Noble has been such a heart and soul player, and he’s one of us - so it’s still wrenching to see him miss out on the thing they all play for.eddiesmith wrote:I think that's part of the reason we won it, being able to drop fringe players even if they do play every game.Meredith1965 wrote:The only negative about this for me is Johnny Noble. Adams, McStay, well, injuries happen. But to play heart and soul every game -every game - this year and then to miss out on every final… him in tears after game was hard to watch.
I hope we can win another next year -it is far from impossible - with him in it.
Y'know ya could visit the injury thread...90 nice wrote:What’s the off season injury wash up
Seem to be irrelevant now
But kind of does anyone know the wash up

But same claim could be made of Markov.eddiesmith wrote:...Meredith1965 wrote:...

Realistically Noble is a good depth player, but a premiership side he probably shouldn't be playing. Frampton is another, but he got in solely on positional depth.
...
And Sydney had Canadian rugby player Pike in their flag side.

But looking ahead we really do need more forwards.Geek wrote:...
But I think that our forgotten hero today was Oliver Henry. If it wasn't for him leaving, we probably wouldn't have snaffled little Tommy Mitchell - 24 stats, 10 contested, 7 clearances but just the lazy 13 tackles. Should try harder next time, Tommy.
...
Got saved by our star midfield (7 goals). Can't expect that every game. (And 12 goals total ain't much. Though GFs are often low scoring.)

sincerest condolences to all those who've lost someone this week. life can be tough sometimes but we've all got the Pies and their Premiership in 2023.
hope you're all enjoying the Premiership glow. At the family day at Olympic park today it looked and sounded like the players had a well earned hard night. So great to see the players with their medals. great to see so many people putting the Pies Premiership merchandise to good use!!!
Have watched parts and heard parts of the replay but haven't seen the full thing yet. Will watch that man times when I get the chance. Watching the kayo mini now. After all the AFL umpire shenanigans this year, I don't think there were any score reviews yesterday. Such a better game with strong decision making and no uncertainty.
So many moments. Bobby Hill's speccy. Naicos hands. Big Tall Marks in the second half. Pendles stopped time in the 3rd, surely how did he find that space to kick that goal. So many goals from the 50m line. De Goey, Hill, Crisp, Crisp and Sidebottom!!!
I've watched Sidey's launch 5 times on regular and slow speed. The camera cuts away from the front view and I can only watch the kick from behind. Whilst it looks like he was holding for a torp the camera cuts away as he walks up. From behind in the air in slow motion, it looks to be spinning like a drop punt but wobbling in the air. On the triple M replay they called it a low penetrating kick. The called for a barrel before the kick but didn't say it after. I so wanted it to be a torpedo but it doesn't matter, it was such a great goal!!!

Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark of the last quarter

Yep I’d like the answer to that too.Mr Miyagi wrote:And should have been 50 against Bailey for smothering Cox’s kick…. he wasnt on the mark, the lion who was had been told to stand, and Cox hadn’t played on. Blatant protected zone infringement
Also Nick was knocked over and the ball not near him, no free. They targeted a 20 year old kid! Gutless pricks!
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
