^Yes, best to wait until people no longer feel they need to be supportive of an unhinged narcissist to save dying relatives.
Not only will people wake up to a massive death toll and mass job losses caused by denialism and incompetence, but also a pile of unproductive debt caused by idiotic billionaire tax cuts, vanity walls, a massive expansion in military spending, unprecedented trade destabilisation, and fed interference rooted in executive abuse.
Then again, it's easy to forget we're dealing with two different centuries in one country here. Perhaps the 1960s fantasists will vote for him again to stick it gay feminist vegans and pregnant teenage girls, as they did with George W. I. Who can be sure?
Way to go, Bankrupter-in-Chief.

Agree. Xi Jinping did nothing to stop the spread of the virus for weeks.Pies4shaw wrote:His delay looks to have condemned a couple of hundred thousand people to death. Why would anyone find fault with that?

PTID isn’t saying China didn't lie, he is saying Trump reacted slowly too through denial & minimisation. Trump’sJezza wrote:Agree. tardiness let alone his policies will kill lots of Americans.
However by next week he’s assured us the problem especially the Economic one will be fixed.

^It's getting hard to keep the story straight, apparently.
Jezza, if the Chinese leadership denied and obfuscated, and Trump denied and obfuscated, that ought to set off warning bells in your head. Callous, reckless, self-serving, corrupt, bumbling and authoritarian; I'd say that describes them both quite well.
Even worse, though, Trump had the chance to learn from China's mistakes and the threat still failed to register above his own peurile self interest. Just a catastrophe.
Why you'd hitch your wagon to that is beyond me.

PR stunts and mismanagement instead of serious action as the clock ticked:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/04/worl ... dates.html
A dangerous and reckless conman in miles over his head, with the power to reduce the world to rubble. The NYT wrote:At least 430,000 people have arrived in the United States on direct flights from China since that country disclosed the existence of a pneumonialike illness to international health experts on New Year’s Eve, according to an analysis of data collected in both countries.
Nearly 40,000 of them have come in the two months since President Trump imposed travel restrictions.
...
And even with the restrictions, screening procedures have been uneven, interviews show.
“I was surprised at how lax the whole process was,” said Andrew Wu, 31, who landed at Los Angeles International Airport from Beijing on March 10. “The guy I spoke to read down a list of questions, and he didn’t seem interested in checking out anything.”

Of course, there's always time for corrupt victimisation while people are dying:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/03/us/t ... fired.htmlNY Times wrote:President Trump is firing the intelligence community inspector general whose insistence on telling lawmakers about a whistle-blower complaint about his dealings with Ukraine triggered impeachment proceedings last fall, the president told lawmakers in a letter late Friday.

i doubt any american would tell you they have a functioning health care systemPies4shaw wrote:Whatever has happened in China is irrelevant to Trump’s culpability. By my estimation, the US just ticked over 1,000,000 cases of COVID-19.
You don’t get 6,803 deaths from 270,000 cases in a functional health system. The true figure is likely to be well over 1,030,000, as I write.
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

Yep, it's the best in the world by a country mile. People saying otherwise are just shilling for socialised medicine.stui magpie wrote:We clearly move in different circles when in the States.
