Glad to hear it.

Will Daisy Thomas be the new Travis Cloke in 2013?

Pies contract woes move to Thomas

FIRST it was Scott Pendlebury. Then it was Travis Cloke. Now, according to Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley, it will be Dale Thomas.

As the football world peers ahead to season 2013, Buckley says his club is likely to endure another year of contractual speculation, this time surrounding Thomas, the dynamic midfielder who is off contract at the end of next season and will be a restricted free agent.

Thomas and his manager Paul Connors rejected more money from Greater Western Sydney to remain with the Magpies when they agreed to a two-year contract extension last season, and can again expect strong interest from several suitors.

Mind you if Daisy has a season like the last one we will be the only club interested in him. :P

Didn't know David Cloke managed Daisy...

He'll be signed up early doors... I hope.

Best thing the club can do now is refrain from public comment apart from issuing a joint statement with Thomas and his management that all negotiations regarding Thomas's contract will occur at the end of Season 2013 when it is due and that the club and Thomas will be issuing no further statements until then. After that if journos refer to the issue in press conferences etc, they can be referred back to that original joint statement.

And please, no more statements from Buckley on the issue.

I am over discussing this type of 'will X take the money', if we lose him we lose him.
We did well with free agency this year and we may not do as well next year, out of just about everyone's control.

Correct. It was a strange comment that could only inflame speculation.

I don't think Daisy was that crash hot all year, to be honest with you.

Many games this year you didn't even know he was playing.

He was a bit like Sidebottom's second half of the year, good, but not great.

Mind you though, I don't remember if he was injured or anything, but he still contributed when it counted.

If fully fit and has another year like 2012, I don't think his 500-600k salary will be justified to be honest. In which case, we may see a 1 year deal or something.

I guess it all depends on how many Collingwood supporters decide to make it an issue.

Collingwood supporters definitely need to take part of the blame for the Cloke negotiations becoming the saga that it was.

That article is an attempt at keeping footy in the newspapers.
