Fred Phelps (of "God Hates Fags" and "God Hates America") does pop song parodies:
http://www.godhatesfags.com/audio/index ... esPlaylist
Highlights include:
God Hates Who You Are - Kesha
Santa Claus Will Take You to Hell
Fear God Inc. - Gorillaz
Elizabeth (Taylor) in Fire - Johnny Cash
No Poker Face - Lady Gaga
I find it very hard to believe that Phelps is serious and not just one of the greatest satirists of our time.

He is serious!! The whole lot of them are. Louis Theroux's show on Foxtel two weeks ago was with the Phelps family - picketing soldiers funerals! They actually fly interstate to go to them too. Since America embraces "fags" the soldiers are 'fag lovers' and deserve to die & they have these loonies show up at their funerals with upside down flags & banners etc.David wrote:Fred Phelps (of "God Hates Fags" and "God Hates America") does pop song parodies:

The episode was called "America's most hated family". It was a real eye opener to how brainwashed some people can become. Nuts.

Bloody hell, we live in a country with no morals.

These people are fuitbats. It may be funny but only in the way that a cheesy B grade horror movie is so bad that it's good.
If this isn't satire, and people actually believe some of the crap on their list of websites, WOW.

Thousands? Westboro boasts a congregation of roughly 62, the vast majority of whom are Fred's kids and grandkids. Otherwise, they have zero credibility in the wider Christian world, and are every bit as reviled by 'mainstream' Baptists as they themselves revile them. I'm not aware of any assaults that have either been associated with the cult or inspired by them. And yes, Landover's great, but isn't truth often stranger (and funnier) than fiction?
Seriously, check out their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. It's ridiculous.

One thing I wanted to add to my post above. Check out this quote from Our own homophobic nutcase Fred (Nile):
All I can say is, hear hear.As has been demonstrated in Western democracies including Australia, once homosexuality is decriminalised all other 'rights' will inevitably follow as there is then no longer any credible reason why any benefit up to and including marriage should be withheld.

What probably is funny is that Phelps considers them to be serious interventions into popular culture and designed to win him followers. That just shows a pathetic lack of insight. These are things I cannot laugh at. To me its akin to laughing at the funny march of the SS or laughing at Hitler's toothbrush mustache. Yes they are absurd but they underpin something more sinister.David wrote:Thousands? Westboro boasts a congregation of roughly 62, the vast majority of whom are Fred's kids and grandkids. Phelp's church's actual membership is low but his tacit support is much higher. There are many far right nutbags that consider his position, if not his tactics, as correct and right. Also a couple of Phelps fellow travelers have been funded by Hillsong and others to lecture on the "sanctity of marriage" during the build up to the Gay Marriage vote in Canberra. Given the message of hate these crew purvey who knows what nutbag has been influenced to commit violence from time to time?
Before Phelps was picketing military funerals they picketed funerals of AIDS victims before they were leqally prevented from doing so in a number of states. Those pickets did lead to violence on several occasions as have some of the military ones.
I guess the message is laugh at them by all means but never forget what underpins them.

Fair enough. I suppose all that we can hope for is that one day all homophobia becomes as ridiculous.rocketronnie wrote:What probably is funny is that Phelps considers them to be serious interventions into popular culture and designed to win him followers. That just shows a pathetic lack of insight. Heard Eddie on MMM talking about the beauty routine in some english magazine recommended for women starting at 30 with botox and moving on through the next decades.
Mick Molloy had a moment of (IMO) genuine humour when he started comparing men and women.
Couple of memorably ones,
if women went bald there would be so much better quality wigs and the old plugs would never have been an option.
If women had external genitals, the scrotum would be wrinkle free. Their testicles would be smoother than Nicole Kidmans forehead.
