dont be surprised if ge gets a fine or a week, I wouldn’t put anything passed the AwFuL, they will just say we said after the tigers shit, no more
Total bullshit, IQ didn’t even flinch, it was nothing
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

EXACTLY..
Are the fans and the coach the only ones hurting.. And don't tell me Bucks isn'i..
You wouldn't catch Bucks smiling after a losing performance. https://images.app.goo.gl/7BFgKre9Z6Xr8HYy7
And yet he allows it to happen and does nothing at the selection table to send a message
Mid season draft we need to get 2 ready made players just so we have a but of depth to drop players who aren't giving a rats.

I would be surprised if he did get suspended, but as you said, with the AFL you just never know. But still it would be hard for them to justify when two Richmond players were grabbing at the genitals of another player last year, and they got nothing for it.
I actually think Henry will be ok, you can tell he's a little in awe and a bit 'light' on body size. Kid just needs time in the 2's. As for the Brown brothers, well we all know where Callum needs to be.. and Tyler is another who needs more 'development' of both mind and body. McCreery's been good.

Just saying...
Hickey might be over 30, but he is in great form atm, one leg or two. This however seems largely irrelevant, because even if Grundy dominates (as he most probably will) we seem to gain little advantage as a result. Tomorrow, with our midfield lacking any big bodied mids, I think that Grundy should as thump the ball forward as much as possible. That might give us at least a 50/50 chance of going further forward. When the Swans realise what he is doing they will make adjustments accordingly, and hopefully that will open some other opportunities that can be exploited with smart coaching...
afl.com.au's view, post-match:
"Hickey a hit in battle of the big men
Brodie Grundy has had his own way in the ruck against the Swans in recent times, averaging an incredible 49 hitouts the past four times he’s faced them. But the Magpie met his match in journeyman Tom Hickey, who is in career-best form while playing his first year in red and white. The battle of the big men was relatively even in the hitouts; Grundy with 26 and Hickey 19. But the Swans’ resurgent ruckman arguably had the better of his Magpie rival around the ground and in the contests with more disposals (19-17), contested disposals (16-14) and clearances (8-6)."

Got little or no value from his ruck taps, clearance work and ball use. Grundy's marking remains his biggest weakness which he'll need to work on, especially when he plays as a forward.
...
I've been wondering all year how much marking can be improved with practice.
Dunno, but surely easier than kicking at least. Gotta ask why that hasn't been done in the previous half dozen years.
"Arguably" is a word used when a journalist is about to spout complete drivel and knows that everyone who isn't a complete moron is going to know that they're talking rubbish.
Sydney were thrashed on all of the following measures: hitouts, hitouts to advantage, centre clearances and stoppage clearances. Only an actual dribbling halfwit would say that the other ruckman had the better of the contest.
Look im fairly neutral with the Grundy 'thing' most times, but i was just watching a replay and Brodie is easily winning the ball but he's doing things like going past the ball, closing his eyes, and tapping it behind him (pretty much to directly 3 swan players in the instance i saw).
Grundy is a legend ruck - but something's broken... might not be him, but something is...

....well I did say, Hickey is in great form atm....
When Collingwood wins the hitouts (this week, 34 to 22), people try to say they aren't winning the hitouts to advantage. When it is obvious they're winning the hitouts and the hitouts to advantage (this week, 9 to 4) people try to say they aren't winning the stoppage clearances. When it is obvious they're winning the hitouts, the hitouts to advantage and the stoppage clearances (this week 30 to 23) people try to say they aren't winning the centre clearances. When it is obvious they're winning the hitouts, the hitouts to advantage, the stoppage clearances and the centre clearances (this week 10 to 5), people start using the word "arguably" - because there is nothing intelligent left to say about who won in the ruck.
But, of course, "arguably" is the word used to denote that a journalist is about to say something that has no basis in fact. Hickey attended 70 ruck contests and won a quarter of them (Darcy Cameron and Blakey both did better, statistically, than Hickey). Grundy attended 54 and won half of them. A third of Grundy's hitouts went to advantage (just 1 in 5 of Hickey's did).
Hickey got thoroughly smashed in all of the rucking aspects of the game. However, Sydney has many better footballers than Collingwood does, so they got the ball more often, won [edit - ooops!] many more one-on-one contests around the ground (despite being thrashed in the contests at stoppages), outmarked Collingwood 95 to 69, outtackled Collingwood 82 to 69, had many fewer clangers (56 to 70), took 12 marks inside 50 to Collingwood's 4 (Mihocek, eg, did not take a mark for the entire game; Moore took 3 marks in defence - but none against an opponent) and consequently won the game easily.

this, i kinda thought along those lines when the usual grundy shit came up, but couldnt be bothered

^imo Grundy has been fine this season. Not quite 2019 but way above 2020. Doesn’t help when you’re palming it down to nappies (both babies and grandpas).
The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.
I saw the first half of the game on the AFL live app yesterday and that was all I could stand to watch. What a lifeless, soulless, listless performance that was.I don’t know how people are expected to pay good money to see performances like that live.Even watching it for free on tv was a chore.
Clearly the club has many issues, but the biggest of all is the forward line.Only five goals kicked, and even worse only one after quarter time.Every week we only have about four or five goal kickers, which is clearly not enough. The top sides would have double that number of goal kickers.Until we can get some forwards who can actually take a mark and kick goals, then we’re in for a world of pain.
