I think it would be a mistake to include him against Essendon...Sheedy will instruct his thugs to rough him up. Burnsy is by far the better option.

I'd prefer us to introduce him later when sides are paying more attention to Thomas...that way we'd have another player slipping under the oppositions guard for a few games. Archer on Thomas on the weekend suggests other teams are already looking to stop Thomas...quite a compliment.

The kid seems to have very nice disposal and all the time in the world, handles it very well too. However, he is coming back from glandual you would not want to hamper his preperation as he still would be recovering. Pushing him too hard, even though he may appear ready may tamper with his bosy and it would take its toll on him. Give him a couple of weeks at Williamstown... he will get his opportunity, however, if he did play i'd only see him playing half a match, he does have good endurance but due to the glandual, the faster tempo of afl footy you wouldn't want to push him.

as i said, a couple of more weeks in willies. if he continues to show promise and fitness enhances, then throw him in against carlton. a good appetiser for the youngster.

not as much pressure against the duds aswell, and infront of a massive MCG crowd would be an ideal first game for the promising kid.

Well since we didn't have the brains to draft the bloke in 2002, we'd bloody well hope so!

Anyone that watches footy on a TV and thinks this will give them any idea about how a player performs is kidding themsleves.

Go down to City Oval Preston at 2:00pm tomorrow and watch what Scott does off the ball, outside the range of the cameras and then you understand how talented this kid is.

BTW, Stanners has been named as Ruck Rover. J26 opened my eyes to Daniel early in preseason and he has not disappointed me yet. In fact he is unlucky that Hazza got the call up over him. His time will come.

Other players to watch will be Jack Anthony at fullback and Daniel Nicholls.

For those die-hards, check out the magoos before the main game and watch Liam Picken and co smash another opponent. Two 100 point wins in two games and of the eight quarters played, they have kept the opposition goaless in six.

It's not surprising - On the weekend, all but 5 of the Senior teams players were Collingwood listers, and 4 of the Williamstown players were ex-AFL players, with Heath Lawry the only exception.

So essentially it's the Williamstown firsts playing against the seconds of other teams.

If we don't get some injuries soon, it's going to be an absolute boil-over of dominance for Williamstown :P

May not turn out so bad afterall...Pendles = Dal Santo (all going well ), Cole traded for Ryan Cook - if he can fire....:D

Agree, d4p, cannot wait for Stanners to begin his league career.

Being you are in Adelaide, you might not get the VFL game. On Foxtel you get whatever the local ABC station is showing, but ABC2 has totally different programming , so you might get lucky there!!! I know we can see SANFL games etc on ABC2, so it might be reversed for you!!

Correction:

Dure to the game being televised on ABC the match is starting at 1:10pm not 2:00pm as previously stated.

Unleash Pendlebury in the space of Subiaco?

Post by Zeke »

Would that be throwing the kid to the lions (or eagles) or a baptism of fire at AFL level?

I reckon the kid could use the Subi space better than most.
