There's plenty of threads on this subject.

I've heard Nick say on two separate occasions, he wants to keep it and that he doesn't want to keep it. Peter wants him to keep it too.

I believe that Presti will 100% back Nick to keep the number. And I believe he will be in the 35 from this year until he retires.

Personally, I like the 35 going to the first player drafted each year, but if there was a time to stop doing that, this is it. It makes sense. Maybe there's another way to honour Presti?

So...

1. Nick wants to keep the number.

2. Presti gives his blessings.

If both those things happen, then 35 it is.

Well I'd say with the memorabilia with Peter & Nick & the 35 jumper just announced, that confirms he will keep it. And so he should.

I doubt anyone will complain. A gun son of a gun is a rare thing no one could anticipate.

If we can get the no.1 back off Lipinski, that would be the go for the no.1 pick.

So what is different about young player of the year that Nick isn't even in the top 3?

What's the point of inviting the coaches to announce the winners? Gives it away doesn't it? Also WTF Nick Daicos couldn't make top 3? Just weird.

I might be reading this wrong but it looks like you need to have played X2 seasons of AFL footy to be eligible for the AFL Coaches Association Best Young Player award.

Looking through a few past winners they seem to have won in their second season.

AFL Coaches Association Best Young Player

The AFL Coaches Association Best Young Player Award is presented in recognition of the player based on performances in his first two seasons of AFL Football and is determined by the weekly votes of the AFL coaches.

Brilliant first season. Best I've seen since Phillip Walsh in '83.
