Yep, shit just got nasty.

From the Daily Telegraph:
Of the 44 new cases announced today:

15 were in isolation
29 were either "partially or fully exposed" to the community
21 are from south-west Sydney
Eight are from southern Sydney
Seven are from western Sydney
There are currently 43 people suffering from Covid-19 in hospital.

Ten people are in ICU
Four people are ventilated
14 people in hospital are under the age of 55
Seven are under the age of 35
Of the ten people in ICU:

One is in their 20's
One is in their 30's
One is in their 50's
Five are in their 60's
Two are in their 70's
Young people thinking they don't need to get vaccinated, note the figures there on ICU and ventilator. This Delta strain is different,

new restrictions from 5pm

The rise in case numbers has prompted Premier Gladys Berejiklian to tighten restrictions for Greater Sydney including the Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour from 5pm today:

Outdoor public gatherings limited to two people (excluding members of the same household);
People must stay in their Local Government Area or within 10kms of home for exercise and outdoor recreation, with no carpooling between non-household members;
Browsing in shops is prohibited, plus only one person per household, per day may leave the home for shopping;
Funerals limited to ten people in total (this will take effect from Sunday, 11 July).

Anyone in Sydney sulking about the new restrictions needs a reality check. if people had been sensible and done what they were asked to do, things would be on the improve. But too many didn't.

Yes they all say that and they're all lying. The decisions are being made by Premiers, reflecting their personality and personal approach, while taking into account health advice

This shouldn't be Labour versus Liberal we need all the States to succeed in this fight and not hope that any fail!
I've been as guilt as any of pointing out differences between NSW and Vic performance but I've never hoped or barracked for a state to fail. We do need all the states to succeed. Some of the comments I've read elsewhere from rusted on Labor supporters about Gladys are bordeline disgraceful.

Dave, anyone who has gone to Sydney in the past 2 weeks must be an idiot. For the rest of the state, there shouldn't be a problem, there's no cases in rural and regional NSW.

No different to the crap directed at Daniel Andrews.

A good dose of karma is heading for the NSW and Federal coalition governments and those who parrot their ideologies.

Why is it Karma?

What did Gladys do wrong previously other than succeed where Victoria and Dan repeatedly failed that she somehow deserves to be punished?

I also didn't realise there was something wrong with the ideology of wanting to respect personal freedom and minimise where possible infringing or impacting on people's lives rather than acting in an authoritarian manner.

This time it hasn't worked, people haven't done the right thing, but the majority of the cases from what I can see are family. There hasn't been a lot of actual random casual infections in the community. If they have to lock down harder, they will.

Well all the other States loved getting Stuck into Dan and Victoria because of our long Lockdown last year. Now Glady has made a Big Mistake

Well I guess people are not Concerned IF it does not effect them

The Big Problem is lot of People as I said above don't care as long as it does not effect them

I don't agree that the other states got stuck into us because of our long lockdown, various people pointed out the reasons we were there. Those are matter of public record and involve serious deficiencies in policy, process, decision making and oversight, yet some people supported them purely because of politics and took any factual criticism as also an act of politics. These same people are now celebrating that NSW hasn't been able to contain the virus without going into lockdown. It makes them feel better or justified in some way.

There are, to your other point, too many people who have stopped caring. It's all been too long, Covid won't get me, this is bullshit, etc etc and these are the people spreading it.

FFS Sydney is a shithole, I hate it, it's last on my list of Australian capital cities I'd live in, but they sailed through 2020 while we were incarcerated by incompetence.

Then you can say there Lockdown in 2021 is from incompetence and not learning from what Happened last year and knowing the Delta Strain is lot more Contagious then the Main one.

Though the incompetence from State Level is no where as Bad from the Federal Goverment Clowns

Nah, Sydney lockdown 2021 isn't incompetence.

There was data to show the Delta strain was more infectious, but no where (to my knowledge) had it been introduced into a Covid free environment so there was no information on really how bad it was.

NSW used their tried and tested methods which had contained the original strain without needing lockdowns, and failed. This was like a controlled laboratory experiment with the variable being people's stupidity and it's made it clear what the Delta variant can do.

Don't understate the stupidity of the lady in charge, who still thinks it's important for people to be able to go to Ikea and buy a side table.

It's not about people being able to go to Ikea and buy a side table, it's about Ikea staying open and paying staff to work.
