The purpose of Kreuzer's inclusion is fuvefold

1. To allow the Treloar trade to get through with Witts as the sweetner
2. save us a valuable first/second rd draft pick give away from next years draft or this years which could be used on Aish
3. To preserve Grundy's body (he is only 21) and not have Josh Fraser x 2 scenario.
4. They rate Mason Cox more so than Witts
5. We trade "nothing" for Kreuzer

ps:

Treloar's deal works out to $666,666/year
Kreuzer's deal is $550,000

So not breaking the salary cap bank

Delisting/likely departures :

Young $375,000
Dwyer $250,000
Armstrong $125,000 approx.
Gault $125,000 apprx
Witts $275,000
Keefe $275,000
J Thomas $300,000
Seedsman $300,000

Total: ($2,025,000) off the salary cap shall help!
I love the Pies, hate Carlscum

Now that was a great informative post Inxs88.
But I would like to rookie list Keefe.
So that would take back a small amount.
we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest.

Also Inxs88 and others what would be better?
Giving this years or next years first round pick.
And would that matter to GWS?

Not too keen on parting with next year's first draft pick as we don't yet know how good or deep the draft pool will be. This year it is supposed to be shallow after about pick 12 or so.
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

Remember also that we are required to add (I think) 5 new players to our list each year, so that means 3 in addition to Treloar and Kreuzer. Also, as our young guns blossom, they will demand significant salary increases. So it's a balancing act.

I have my doubts Dwyer would be on that coin, perhaps Armstrong too.
But it is critical that the wages of Keeffe and Thomas be wiped from the 2016 cap, and unfortunately agree that Seedy is disposable.
And some imbecile committed Blair to a 2-year deal until end of 2016, so there's MORE dead money.
As Rudey said, we must factor in Scharenburg[?], Freeman etc for a 3rd season increase in 2016, despite the fact that they have barely set foot on the park between the two of them.

Not forgetting DeGoey will stick his hand out for more spondoola in 2017, his third season, and rightly so.

IF, we dont get Kruezer, we cannot clear witts, as i say, if grundy goes down, we are left with a big and raw Yank, thats it. so we must keep witts.

woops forgot Karnezis whose likely departure should save $250,000. Also the figure for Dwyer above ($250,000) is an estimate based on the average AFL wage which given he is a third year player, would be a fair estimate. But yes it is a balancing act. There is always a variable each October where we lose somebody we don't anticipate. The Scharenberg one should interesting, especially given his management are seeking an upgrade from an initial "2 year first rd draftee wage to $400,000". Would have thought $300,000 was fair!

Expect Adelaide to swoop next week after they are knocked out and Dangerfield declares his "departing hand".

Out:

Dangerfield $800,000

In:

Scharenberg $400,000
J Redden $400,000

UNFORTUNATELY!! Scharra has not implied, inferred, uttered, hinted, mooted or exalted anything about his desire to stay with the Pies. I just wish he would say "THANKYOU COLLINGWOOD FOR EVERYTHING DURING MY INJURIES: WHERE DO I SIGN"???

Hi bloke! Well, I don't mind ol' PVL myself, thought his recent game against us a few rounds ago was rather solid.
Hoping we don't need to trade Witts though, although he may prove to be "collateral damage" perusing Treloar.

Annodam however, might shit the odd kitten or two over Mr.PVL in B&W ...

Agree, certainly got the talent and should be entering his prime now.
The same arguments can be used to keep Witts he will come into his prime in 2017 and his body is far less fragile than Kreuzer
I hope you're not expecting an argument Neil. I'm firmly in the retain Witts camp.
